I could really use the advice of DVC members as I'm sure serveral of you have purchased additional days to save points.
I have rented points for a 1br at OKW for Sun-Thur. I want to stay a total of seven nights and plan to add a Friday and Saturday thru Disney travel. I will check in Friday and check out the next Friday morning.
I was wondering how that works having a ressie with points and non-points? Can I get all seven nights in the same unit?
And should I purchase a package for those two nights with a seven day ticket or get my 2 night room and 7 day ticket seperate. I thought the package would be nice and I could have the dining plan to cover the meals while in the park (we will only eat out at lunch).
Thank you.

You would only be able to get the dining plan for the days you book through CRO and not through DVC (unless you are traveling after April 1, and even then, the details are not known at this time). DVC must know ahead of time if you plan to use the dining plan. You will have two separate dining plans (one for the DVC reservation and one for the CRO reservation). You must purchase the dining plan for everyone staying in the villa.

There is no way to link a DVC reservation with a CRO reservation. You have to tell the front desk when you check in. You might be able to stay in the same room, but it will depend on how busy the resort is. You might have to move and get another room later in the day. It is not guaranteed unless you reserve through Member Services and you can't do that.

You can get a 7 day (or 8 day ticket, if you really need 8 days and not just 7) when you check in.

Thank you. This is my first stay in a DVC resort. I've stayed at the mod's and deluxes but never a villa. I decided to rent points and give them a try. I've always wanted to stay in a villa but did not want to spend that much money. I just hope I don't get the bug and want to buy into it like so many others.
All the advice I can get I am really thankful for. I read several threads but none that could answer about what was the best way to go about getting a CRO ressie with a DVC ressie?

Even though I am a member, I reserved an AP discount night through CRO to add to my OKW Sunday to Thursday points nights last year. I called and noted the other reservation # on both reservations. I mentioned it when I checked in on Sunday. It was for a 1 bedroom. On Friday morning I went to the front desk to get new keys and parking permit. It was no problem staying in the same room.

Since you already have your DVC reservation, when you call CRO for your other nights, just give them the DVC reservation # to note on your CRO reservation. Then have the member note the CRO reservation # on your DVC reservation. What size room are you getting? If it's a 2 bedroom, be sure you reserve the same type on both reservations - lockoff or dedicated. All the studios and 1 bedrooms at OKW are lockoffs, so it will not be a problem there.

Rather than going through all this, another alternative is to just book a mod or deluxe Friday & Saturday through CRO. Then spoil yourself rotten with the 5 nights in a DVC one-bedroom at the end of the trip. I would not recommend staying in a mere hotel at the end of the trip, but doing it first will be less painful. Disney will move your luggage on your switch date while you're at the theme parks.

If you are only eating in Disney F&B outlets for lunch, I doubt that you WANT the dining plan. The dining plan is $37.99 per day per adult, and $10.99 per day for kids, and you have to have it for the entire length of the stay it's tied to. $38 is a pretty expensive lunch, if that's all you will use it for.

Is it reasonably easy to "link" a cash reservation with a points reservation, to avoid moving rooms, if you make both through member services?

If you make both through MS, you can link them. And the second will be a continuation of the first.

But you cannot link a MS with a CRO reservation. I know, we did this last summer.
