I should know this but don’t. If I have 2 back-to-back reservations (same room type) one made using home resort advantage and one using 7 month booking, can they be combined to a single reservation or do I need to hope that a request to not change rooms will be fulfilled?

You can call or chat to have them linked to stay in the same room but you will still have two reservations.

This also means that you will have 2 60+ day windows for ADR’s.

I have things merged into one all the time when booked on the same membership with home and non home resort points.

So, they definitely can become one when on the same membership

I use my SSR points at 7 months to snag any RIV rooms still open at beginning or end of my trip and drop my nights that I got with home resort.

They then merge them into one. .

But your points all have same use year, correct?

Just an FYI: they are usually pretty good about not making you move rooms if you are in the same room type. It's not a 100% guarantee, but many people on these boards (including me) have had good luck with this. I would just call a few weeks ahead of time and have them put in the request that you would like to stay in the same room. This is a benefit to them too, as they don't have to clean your room for that move.

If your contracts are different UYs, then they can’t be combined to a single reservation.

But, if you have made two reservations on the same membership, whether one was booked with home resort points and one without, those can be combined into one

That is what I thought. I should have specified in my post that they would be different use years. Thx!

Yes, the rule is that you cannot merge two reservations made with points from two different use years (which would mean you have two separate memberships). That is even the rule if the points are for the same resort and the reservations are made at 11-months out, although in that situation you could first transfer points from one membership to the other and make a single reservation at 11-months out.

In the last 16 years, I have actually done a number of consecutive reservations using different use years. In that situation we contacted MS and requested that the reservations be linked. We have never had to change rooms, although to help assure that, when we arrived at the resort, we went to the front desk to make sure it was aware that we had two linked reservations.

Thanks, drusba. You and I have been members for about the same amount of time. But for about 5 years I was not using my points or following the DIS while taking care of my husband and I have become a slug when it comes to the technicalities. Thank you for your patience and generosity in sharing your expertise.
