Combining Regular and Developer Points?

Okay, what is truly the best way to go about this? We're looking at doing a 10 night stay in the end of September, but I know we'll have to combine our remaining developer points and the points we have ready for our next use year. Has anyone else done this? Can you also reserve a weekend on cash in the same room with Member Services? I've never dealt with this many different point/cash types!

I reserved my upcoming Saratoga Springs with Developer Points and regular points. It was no problem. They took the Developer Points first and the remaining points needed were deducted from my total regular allocation. The only thing you can see on the website is where the regular points are deducted. It shows up as, "Manual adjustment to points Allocated available." You'll have to wait for a manual reservation confirmation, which took me about three weeks, because of the Developer Points.

All in all, though, it was seamless and easy and I had no problems.

I have done a mixed ressie also. One other thing to keep in mind is to make sure you stress to MS that they should use your developer points FIRST. From what I understand, they show in a separate account so if you don't point it out, they may just use your purchased points for the whole ressie. When we needed to supplement with purchased points to cover the whole ressie, we then had to authorize "borrowing" the remaining points from our account. This caused us some confusion initially.

We also made sure we got them to give us a confirmation number on the phone (there was some communication via email to resolve questions to our DVC online reservation request) and they also sent a follow-up email that gave us the confirmation numbers. That is a good thing because we could print it all out. We still haven't gotten a mailed confirmation of the reservation as we were told so the email confirmation is that much more important to our peace of mind.

Don't know what to tell you about the cash ressie part, but I would guess it wouldn't be an issue. At least for us, when we have called MS we have had very good results and interaction.
