I am so confused. I really appreciate everyones patience as I inform myself with everything DVC.

Let's say I have 100 points at BWV and another contract with 50 points at AKV and I decide I want to stay at AKV and want to book 11 months out. Can I make a ressie 11 months out at AKV that requires 150 points (without borrowing or banking)?

Nice try. :goodvibes

Points from different home resorts can only be combined at 7 months, not 11.

I don't think you can. The only way I can think of is if you can find someone to trade( or sell) your BWV points, for their akv points that have the same use month as your akv.

If you want to make a reservation during the Home Resort booking window (11 months to 7 months plus one day from check in) you need to have enough Home Resort points to pay for the nights you want to book. In other words, AKV points are needed to book AKV, BCV points are needed to book BCV, etc. Just being an owner at that resort isn't enough, in fact it's not even required. What matters is whether you have enough points at that resort in your account to cover your reservation. For example if you wanted to book BLT 11 months out and did not own there, you could get BLT points transferred into your account from another member and use those points to book BLT in the Home Resort booking window.

Okay, I'm starting to understand. At 7 months could I use my 100 BWV plus 50 AKV points to book a 150 pt ressie anywhere I want or do I have to transfer points with another member?

Thank you for clearing that up!

Now, that leads me to my next question... why do members do 25 point add-ons of a resort they don't already have ownership? You see, I've been thinking you do small add-ons in order to book your trip 11 months out at that particular resort. I'm not getting why someone would own at 6 different properties unless they visit WDW many times each year. And even then, are they really visiting 3 different resorts a year? I guess it is possible, and for that matter, my dream come true! :thumbsup2

You can use banking and borrowing to get triple the number of points to use at 11 months out. So you can turn your 50 AKV points into 150 by banking one year. Then the next year use those banked points, the current year points and borrow the next year's points to get 150.

:)Most people own at the different resorts to get the 11 month advantage say at BWV for F&W or WL for Christmas--even if it is for a couple of days.

DH walked in the other night saying he wanted to stay "in the Treehouses" :scared1: What!! So I told him we could add on 50 points at SSR and use 150 points every 3 years to stay in one for a short visit--or could chance it at 7 months with my, ***oh, I mean our***AKV points. Prior to that statement he said he was only staying at AKV....guess someone has been secretly looking at the websites. :woohoo:

If it is a busy travel season you may not want to chance waiting for 7 month window to make a reservation if your travel dates aren't flexible; you can book as many nights as 100 BLT pts gets you at BLT &/or 50 AKV points gets you at AKV at 11 month window so at least you'd have something reserved and then at 7 month window call MS to see what's available to book if you combine BLT & AKV pts for longer stay at BLT or for booking AKV or another resort, then you can cancel initial reservation(s) & do new booking.

Best wishes :goodvibes

We sometimes stay a three different resorts during a single vacation. :goodvibes

We learned early on that to guarantee that you get to stay where you want, you need to buy where you love to stay. As more memberships are sold, getting your desired resort at 7 months is getting harder. Thousands of members bought SSR points and many report that they seldom if ever stay there.
