Combining Gift Cards?

I promised I googled and searched the forums and I'm either going crazy or blind. I feel like I read somewhere on here that you could combine smaller gift cards so that you don't have a million cards sitting around.

I know that there are apps and that you can use an unlimited amount to pay for your ressie/kttw cards, but I'm thinking in the case of a refund, I'd rather have it go back onto four of five cards (there's a $500 max, right?) vs 30-40 smaller cards.

Is it possible or am I imagining having seen it somewhere before?

It's my understanding that they will not do it any more. At one time, you could call the customer service number on the back of the card and read all your card numbers off to them. They would then transfer the amounts to one card and mail you a receipt of the transaction.

GCs can have up to $1000 placed on them at select locations but you can only purchase up to $500 on a single card online.

You've pretty much touched upon one of the big problems that you have when you purchase multiple GCs. Carrying around a huge stack of them is cumbersome and there's the whole problem of keeping track of them in case you cancel your trip and the money gets refunded back to them. I wish you could combine Disney GCs like you can combine Starbucks GCs. Starbucks makes it so easy to take all of those little $5 & $10 GCs and combine them on one card right from your online account. Maybe some day Disney IT will catch up with the rest of the world.
