Combining getting the wedding licence and shopping?

We are trying to plan our holiday (as we're coming up to the 180 day ADR booking window) and on the day that we go to get the wedding licence I am in need of some assistance.

1. Which is the nearest place to go to to get the license from WDW?
2. Is it possible to get there by public transport or should we hire a car for the day or get a taxi?
3. How much time should we allocate to getting the licence?
4. Which is the nearest shopping mall/centre to the court house?
5. Question 2 again

On our last trip we only went to the outlet malls and used the buses to get there, so haven't been to the Florida Mall or the Mall at Millenia before.

1. Your best bet is the Orange County Clerk of Court in downtown Orlando Office (425 North Orange Avenue, Room 355, Orlando, FL 32801). Hours of operation are Monday through Friday (except holidays), 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

2. If you are plannning on getting the license and shopping, I would recommend renting a car (Alamo & Avis car rental are on Disney property) or hiring a driver for the day. A taxi would be expensive going from Disney to downtown Orlando and shopping.

3. I can't help here as I haven't applied for my marriage license yet. I would guess it would greatly depend on whether or not the courthouse is busy (maybe an hour?)

4. The Mall at Millenia is the easiest/closest to reach from downtown Orlando; it is right off the I-4. Florida Mall is easy to reach as well but not as convenient as Millenia.

5. Same answer as #2. A taxi would be expensive, especially if you get stuck in traffic on I-4.

on a different note - a lot of folks, including myself, did our marriage license via the mail through Brevard County. Very easy, very fast. i say cut down on all errands that you can because everything gets so hectic!

The courthouse in the Osceola County is about 17 miles from the Grand Floridian. The address for the courthouse is:
2 courthouse square 2nd floor, Kissimmee, Fl

The courthouse in Orange County is about 25 miles from the Grand Floridian.

I definitely suggest renting a car for that day. Florida mall is not far from the Orange county courthouse. It depends on what type of shopping you want to do. Mall at Millenia doesn't have a lot of the same stores as a regular mall does. It is more of your high-end brand names...Tiffany & Co, Louis Vitton, Burberry, etc.

Just wanted to add that if you use Say I Do Weddings, they will tack a $100 fee on top of the $97.50 license price, but if you use Brevard County's Mail-Away service, there is no extra charge. And since Say I Do Weddings makes you jump through all the same hoops as Brevard County, there's no difference in service.

Hello Lurkyloo,
we need to get license asap, May 4th wedding. do you think it would be better to use the SayIdowedding site, I know its expensive but at this point we are desperate. I have the Brevard mail away form but I am afraid it will take too long. We had the forms somebody linked on the disboards but my dd just forgot to mail,
I think her planner gave her paperwork for an office that's 3 hrs away. Really do not want to wait until Monday May 2. Help!
