Combining FP and Child Swap?

If we have a FastPass for a ride, can we also ask for a Child/Parent Swap or is this "cheating"? We haven't had to use the Swap since '06 and my memory is fuzzy.. :)

Also, IF this works, then technically I can get DH and DD1 a FP and Myself and DD2 a FP for different rides, use the Swap and then all 4 of us ride 2 rides?

YES!! You can do this and it works great. :thumbsup2

That is what we have done before, got FPs for one ride with a couple of tickets and then got FPs for another ride and used the swap on both.

Maybe I'm just tired...but how would this work?

:)

An example for my family:

Grab a FP for BTMRR using my ticket and DD8's ticket.
Grab a FP for SM using DH's ticket and DD3's ticket.

When using the 2 FP's for BTMRR, DD8 and I would ask for a Child Swap ticket. After we ride, DH and DD8 could go on BTMRR using the Child Swap pass.

Repeat process for SM. :goodvibes Hope that makes sense!

Oh goodie! (I just said goodie.) I'm sure this will come in handy a lot during our trip!

Hmmm... I hadn't thoght of that. We could also get 4 passes and just use 2 at a time... YAY!

Ok, thank you for helping me understand!!

So...for the Child Swap ticket...if our daughter wants to go on a ride (she's 7), but our son doesn't (he's 4), then we can do child swap and take her on twice in a row? I wasn't sure how child swap worked.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Ok...I am sooooooooo happy to hear that!

This means my husband and I won't have to ride by ourselves if our son doesn't want to go on a ride...and our daughter will get to do them twice!

Thanks for all the help!

:)

It is totally awesome! Keep in mind, however, that Disneyland's rider swap passes will only allow entry for 2 guests. (WDW's allow more) so if you have more than 4 riders, you might have to juggle!

What do you mean by that? (Sorry, again, I must be tired!)

It will be my husband, myself and our 2 kids. Our worry is that our son won't want to ride a lot of rides because he's very timid. We thought one of us would ride with our daughter, and then the other adult would ride alone...but it sounds like we can take her on with us the 2nd time.

How exactly does child swap work? Our DD is 4.5 and can't do a couple rides yet, if DH and I both want to do them, do we have to stand in line with her the entire time? Is it better to do single rider?

For your family I suggest Single Rider *on the rides where it's available.

This may be a stupid question, is there a list somewhere of the single rider line rides? I have never seen one.

Thanks!

You can definitely take her on it the second time! :thumbsup2

As you enter the line there is usually a CM standing there, ask the CM for a Child Swap pass. Some people have reported that they will want to see that you have a younger child that cannot ride, we have never had this happen. One of you will wait with your DD, while the other one rides. The other rider then gives the Child Swap pass to the CM and they will direct you on where to go, generally you go through the FP line, but on some rides (like Space Mt.) you enter through the exit.

Ugh! This is the single most disappointing piece of information regarding DL/WDW differences for our boys. We have 2 pre-teens and one pre-schooler. At WDW, I can take BOTH of my older boys on a ride a second time with my child swap pass. So I get to enjoy all the rides with both of my older boys, not just one of them.

At DL, it sounds like I have to choose one of them to ride with me, which is neither fun for them nor me. This is our first trip to DL with our boys, so they have never been on these rides with us. I thought of getting another FP so that I can ride with both of them, then we sacrifice our pre-schooler's FPs.

Any suggestions?

Pixarmom - just get a FP for everyone in your group - if your preschooler is too short to ride, use his FP for one of your older boys and then you can all go together.

We've had the same problem since we have 2 older and 2 younger boys.

Our littles often didn't want to ride the scary or fast rides (that is changing as they get older) so we would use their FP's for other family members along with the Child Swap pass. We never had a problem. Another thing you could try - I don't know if it would work, though - is tell the CM that you have 3 people, not 2 in your group and could you please all go together. It's at least worth a shot. KWIM

Thank you! We talked about getting a FP for everyone in our group as you described when we first heard of this rule, but that means we have to give up the FPs for our pre-schooler. At WDW, we pull 3 FPs space mountain and 2 for Buzz, 3 FPs for Splash and 2 for Pooh, 3 FP for Big Thunder and 2 for Peter Pan. That way, while the older boys are on the big rides, our pre-schooler can ride little rides. When he was really tiny, this didn't matter - he would just hang out at one of the playgrounds - especially at MK. But now, he's very close to the height requirements, so it would be a double disappointment to 1) not be able to go on rides with his brothers because he's not tall enough; and 2) not be able to go on another ride while they are on the ones he can't ride!

Any suggestions for playground areas or other things that don't have long waits that he could do while his brothers are on the big kid rides? We have a ton of those at WDW, but haven't been to DL with kids and have no idea.

And I think we might give it a try to at least ask - I was wondering if that was worth a try!
