Columbus weekend

Is next weekend (7th&8th) Columbus Day weekend? I didn't even realize this was a possibility, our kids don't get the holiday. Think the parks will be busy on Saturday?

Hey fellow columbusites(?) Columbus day is Mon the 9th, so the weekend
of the 7th & 8th is a type of holiday for some, but I've been there for
the last few years and its not to bad, if you are staying on site you will
be fine. I will be checking in the the 8th at the rpr for our stay.

I've got a few days to go yet, but don't the excitement just get you
all gidddy!!!!!!.

Thanks! We're "old pros" when it comes to Disney and their crowds but this is all different to us. We are onsite, howeever (portofino) and I'm sure that that FOTL helps I just can't understand how a town named COLUMBUS doesn't have a school board that recognizes COLUMBUS DAY as a holiday! It's a darn federal holiday for heaven's sake (didn't realize that till I did my online mail hold and it wouldn't let me have delivery on the 9th ). Now if I can just get my kids through this week of school and two days next week before the "vacation virus" hits the entire family.............

Do you have kids that will be suffering from the dreaded vacation virus too?

Columbus weekend pulls in some pretty good local crowds to the parks. but if you're onsite, you're good to go. we'll probably be there ourselves that Sunday or on a beach.

I have a nephew that lives with us , but he will be in school the week we
go,(creative planning ) this is our anniversary trip besides he be in
panhandle of florida for the weekend at a boy scouts camp so I don't feel to
bad for the boy.
