We're thinking of a last minute trip for Columbus Day weekend (October 8-11). What are the chances of getting a studio at BCV or BWV at this late date?? Is that a busy time at the DVC resorts?

Not sure if a "busy" time of year; but we are in Birmingham, AL and that is the week of our Fall Break--we will be coming down the 8th-14th--will be at OKW 10th-14th...keeping our fingers crossed that it is not too terribly busy!

I don't think there are any studios available, but you can call and see or get on the waiting list. It is a busy time of year, because the points are less, there are a lot of people out of school or work, epcot has the food and wine festival, and magic kingdom has the halloween parties.

Good luck. People may cancel at the 30-day mark if you waitlist.

I had the same idea. I called MS yesterday and there were no studios available at all for that weekend. But I did get one at OKW for Halloween weekend. Let the countdown begin!

Both times we have been there for Columbus Day Weekend it was Busy-- Last year was really busy -almost as busy as some of the days just after Christmas and this year the F&W festival will be going on also. Last year it started the end of that week. We missed it by one day. This year we opted for Sept as the crowds should be less - F&W starts the day after we leave. maybe I will make it next year. Good luck getting a room - you still have time to wait list.

WDW is having a 10K race on Oct 10 (Sunday) and a cross country race on Oct 8. Plus the Susan G. Komen 5K race on Saturday. This will be a busy weekend - plus you have MNSSHP going on, too. I don't think there are many if any DVC rooms left.

I tried a couple of weeks ago to get something for that weekend and was told they are booked solid.

Wow - I'm glad I'm heading to Ft. Lauderdale over the weekend! Two years ago, my Aunt and Uncle joined us at BWV. I ended up getting a preferred view studio for them (it was all that I could get several months in advance). We went to the parks because they were there for the weekend, but this year my plan is to avoid Columbus Day weekend by visiting them.

BWV & BCV should most definately be full due to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. Some of the other resorts may have openings though. I'll be at SSR Oct. 8 - 18th. Good Luck!

We stayed at BCV that week last year and it was VERY, VERY busy and unusually VERY, VERY hot like it is August.

We use to like going in October because of the lessened crowds and the nice weather but now that the Food and Wine Festival is becoming more and more popular I think we'll find another time of year to go.

Good luck!

Does it go down any during the week, or is it just as bad as the weekend?

I wasn't able to get any room Columbus day weekend when I called a little more than a week ago... I was able to get a 1br starting on the 13th though. Not a big deal, at least we will get to stay in a 1br for our first DVC experience... We are going to be spoiled!!! :bounce: :earseek:

that is funny because we are leaving our 1-bedroom at BCV on the 13th.

we will try to tidy up on our way out!

the crowds last year did go down after Monday but this year there are other things going on - The F&W festival didn't start until the weekend following Columbus Day and this year it starts Oct 1 so that may make a difference - at least at EPCOT

I called MS early last week but no studios were available anywhere on property. I opted for the $55 a night rate at All Star Music. I'm sure I'll find another way to use my points! :p
