Columbus day weekend?

We currently have our trip planned for October 18-25. But airfare is proving difficult. For some reason the return to Milwaukee on the 25th is outrageous. But the 11-18 is no problem. This is Columbus Day weekend right? Just wondering what you all think. We did pick out original dates because our kids have the 23 and 24 off. Should we wait and hope airfare changes? Also any idea why flying home on the 25th is causing this problem?

I'm in the same boat, with the same dates (flying out of Milwaukee). It's nuts! That's the only week we can go because DD16 is also off those 2 days. At this point, we may look into a different trip that week. Between MK construction & not being able to get decent flights (literally the day after the dates went on sale), I'm starting to reconsider if we should go. Last year free dining started October 18th...wonder if tons of people have already booked for that week "just in case"?

I was shocked at how quickly those flights booked. I am assuming you were also looking at southwest? It's crazy i am currently considering flying home on Sunday at the 8:30 am flight (with 3 young kids though the idea of getting on magical express at 5:30 is not appealing) but I'm sure by the time I finish typing this that flight will also be sold out (for the price I can afford anyway)

Yes, nonstop on Southwest is the only way we'll go anymore...had a layover last time and we started our trip exhausted. Looks like we'll have to extend our trip (more $ is not I'm the budget) if we decide to go. But the longer I wait to decide, the less availability & the more it costs. Ugh! So frustrating. Good luck to you! I say book the Sunday flight while it's available. We might end up on the same flight. Are you in Milwaukee? We are in southern Sheboygan county.

Not in Milwaukee. Southern dodge county. The only nice thing about this, is that if I do book Sunday and Saturday opens up I can at least still switch it. Fingers crossed might be the way to go.
