Columbus Day Weekend Food Blitz! My first PTR! Updated 10/1!

Sounds like a good plan. DH and I were able to get an 8:50 flight so if you get on the standby we might end up arriving around the same time.

Can you believe how close it is!?!?!

Keep an eye out for a purple backpack with a green mickey head luggage tag and our dis names on it.

SO close! Will do! I am going to try to print out a green Mickey head too. :thumbsup2

almost out of double digit day waiting for you guys, you should probably celebrate.

We are almost to the point were we can say that we are less than a month.

We will be traveling back from Chicago when we hit an anniversary for us.

In about two weeks we will have been counting down for two hundred days. I've decided during the car trip we need to pretend we are driving the leg of the journey from Voldosta, Ga. to Orlando, FL.

When I talk about it to anyone other than Jayne it sounds like such a weird thing to do....:confused3

We celebrated with a trip to the vet this morning. Ugh, Ike (dog) got bronchitis! Honestly, how does that even happen!:( Got some meds so hopefully he will be on the mend before we leave. And he'll be spoiled by Nigel's parents anyway when they dog sit.

Wow, how good does it feel to be out of the hundreds! Nigel sent me a text the other day about how many days it is until our purely hypothetical 2014 trip (362 in case you were wondering).
That's why you need the DISboards, so you can share your weird Disney things in a safe place! :)

Hi, I'm back. Laziness and life has gotten in the way, but now I am here and ready to share all my random, completely useless thoughts with my readers! (all 3 of you!) Reviews of FP+ and Magic Bands just for you, Jayne! :)

Well, they're heeeeere! Magic Bands!

They fit pretty nice. Of course, like many on the DIS, we got our official invitation to test and order the Magic Bands about two days AFTER THEY ARRIVED! Disney: Not Always on the Ball. Seriously, they sent us a FedEx letter about signing up for the MBs. Random.

I pretty much talked Nigel into the blue. He was leaning grey, but I said that since he is part of a select group of Disney-crazy people who were in the know about the MBs that he had to pick a color to show he was in the know. Sound confusing? Well, it worked at any rate. I normally prefer blue but I thought I'd switch it up and go with pink. All that seems like it went fairly easy but I agonized over the color decisions! I know, first world problems.

And of course, I made FP+ selections. Well, bad news for us park hoppers, FP+ sucks. Not in the general sense, just in the way it does not believe that I can hit Toy Story Mania at 9 am and then get over to Spaceship Earth by 10 a.m. So, you can only make 3 FP selections per day and you can only choose one park! LAME! We have been known to hop to all four parks in one day! Come on, Disney! Let us hop with FP+! I've made some selections but really nothing too interesting. Like, none of the Illuminations or Wishes things.

I also really dislike how I can't overlap times. So, if I sign up for Haunted Mansion at 5 p.m., I can't make another FP+ reservation until 6 p.m. because they are in hour increments. Maybe this might be where using the app in the parks would work...If I do my FP+ exactly at 5, then perhaps I can move up my next selection because it will have registered as me already having used it? Also, I feel like I can't customize as much as I want. The system is kind of ungainly in how it MAKES you pick three, you can't just pick one. And, it will try to choose for you. I remember I was trying to organize and get a specific option for my third one and it just wouldn't let me. I couldn't pick that specific ride, and I don't know if it was because it was too far away from each other in MK or what. Eh, who knows? Maybe I'll get there and think it is awesome. Even though I have never been much of a planner before, I did like picking the FP+ out; it really does get you excited for your trip, so good move, Disney. Hopefully, as we go on, the system will only improve, especially since this is still technically the testing phase.

I saw that OKW will get MBs as of October 14th, so good luck out there! Questions? Ask away, but I doubt I know much of anything! :)
Now to finish laundry...:laundy:

Don't worry, I promise I'll be back!

Back already! So, you may have seen Nigel talk about us trying to change our flight. Well, that would be all my fault. We all know that my favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast (or you do now). We got to eat at Be Our Guest for lunch in January, and it was amazing. It seriously feels like stepping into the movie. So, of course, I am one of those people...yes, I still want to eat dinner there, so I am looking for that elusive BOG reservation. I thought I had given up all hope. I mean, come on, it is practically ungettable. I thought I was resigned, especially when I wasn't sure where or when MK would fit into our plans, back before MNSSHP had been purchased.

But then, I started looking. Just for fun, mind you. Just for kicks. And then, it happened. Instead of saying, no tables available on 10/11, it said call for times. Well, hmmm. Why don't I call? Okay, long story short (too late), I snagged a BOG reservation for 10/11 at 4:20, which I thought would give us dinner and then we could enjoy the rest of the party. But then, the doubters started chiming in. Li Li, your flight lands at 1:52. Yeah, but 90 minutes for DME and then hightailing over to MK, we just might make it. It might be close, but we throw our bags at Bell Services and get the first bus or taxi that appears. But Li Li, your MNSSHP tickets are at will call. Oh. That. Hmm. So, we would have to land, get to DME, hope it doesn't take too long, check in, hope that doesn't take too long, get party tickets from concierge, hope it doesn't take too long (see the trend?), get MK bus and get to New Fantasyland, all between 1:52 and 4:20. And then Nigel says the dreaded words, what if our plane is delayed?

So, yeah. This is a hail mary pass. We can't change our flights right now because we bought round trip through Travelocity and the price to change is ridiculous and would costs us more than the entire flight costs for two people, round trip. BUT, there are earlier flights leaving that day from our airport...and the travelocity rep flat out said to me, don't change now, just try to walk up and change that day, which would be less expensive. So, we are going to do it. We'll get to airport extra early and see if we can pay to get on the earlier flight, give us some breathing room, and satisfy my selfish need to enjoy a glass of wine at Belle and the Beast's castle. Yes, crazy does look good on me. So, I am keeping my reservation and if nothing else, my crazy plan has only cost me $10 if we can't make the ADR.

Nothing like a bit of excitement to start a trip! It's almost like the Amazing Race. :rotfl2:

In any case, I am really excited about the Halloween party. I have warned Nigel that we don't have time to stand in lines. I'm not wasting my precious party time to wait for a pic with seven dwarves, even if it is rare. That's just me. I got an FP+ for Haunted Mansion because otherwise Nigel would divorce me. But other than that, I really just want to see the villain party, the parade and the Hallowishes. That's not too much to ask for, right? I have a feeling Nigel thinks we are going to go on more rides than I think we are, but let's save that argument for Main Street, USA in front of hundreds of strangers. :lmao:

So, day one should be fun but exhausting. Thank god, day 2 is a day of rest, or is it? Dun, dun, dun!!! [insert suspenseful music here]

good luck with stand by!

If I were you I would talk to Nigal on the plane about your idea of the plans for the evening. Tell him what you have your heart on seeing and let him know that those things may interfere with getting on more rides.

setting expectations ahead of time prevents disappointments in the long run.

We'll be watching Hallowishes with you that night. (But we are doing it from the beach at the poly after Ohana)

We're almost to Disney Day!!!!! As pf the morning we are down to Single digit days!!!:cool1::jumping1::cool1:

Wahooo! 10 more days for us too! :yay:
Can't wait for the party next Friday! Hope you make it to BOG! pixiedust:

But all those great rides!

don't worry, the lines for rides are very short all over the park due to parents taking kids to get candy and meet and greets.

You can easily ride a bunch of rides

I would recommend watching the Halloween parade. I am not much for watching parades, and being in that "human soup" really kind of annoys me and skeeves me out, but I had a lot of fun watching it last year. It surprised me how much fun.

I would also recommend getting a good spot for the fireworks. The Halloween display was one of the most incredible I've seen in my life, and we didn't have a great viewing position. I thought it was going to be but then I realized that tree wasn't transparent.

However I am determined that when we go for the Christmas party we will have a good spot, even if I have to be one of the weirdos that gets a spot two hours early

go pirates!!! Woo!!!!⚾

Well thanks to the Dodgers win looks like our teams will actually get to play a game at night that fans can watch without having to stream it soundless on their computer.

I think I scared a lot of people after Holliday's homer yesterday.

I pretty much gave up all pretense of working from 3:30 on and stopped doing the quick minimize whenever anyone walked by.

Going to be quite the match up between Cole And Wainwright.

Okay back to Disney, You guys should not be getting too much sleep these days. (I'm too excited to sleep) Are the bags packed yet? any last minute changes? If the Bucs do win have you made any plans for viewing games while you are there? okay never mind on that last one.

I am packed. DW not so much. When the Bucs win we'll probably be following the games on our phones, which is better than nothing. However, I bumped up our data plan to cover that DNS that we use our phones a lot on our trips.

We were there for the NLCS last year and the resort bars had games on so we'd stop in to watch...I'm sure you will be able to catch it if you so desire. However I doubt you will since I don't know why you'd want to pause your vacation just to watch the Cardinals play ;)

Well, I've officially moved from unpacked to mostly packed! Yay! I still feel like I don't have enough clothes packed but I always feel like that. I think I was pretty restrained. Only 3 pairs of shoes...for four days. I need help.

So excited to get this trip underway. I have a couple of things that I need to get done at work before we leave, and it is so hard to concentrate! Especially with a pic of me and Nigel from one of our Disney trips staring at me on my desk. I might need to move that tomorrow to get work done!

I don't want to jinx anything, so I will refrain from any trash talking at this time! Some of us don't have perennial playoff teams, you showboaters! I did pack my pirates necklace. Maybe that will be a good luck omen for tomorrow's game. Hopefully, we will be stopping by the Chase Visa lounge during F&W in Epcot to watch some Pirates ball!

What is this place? Though the Cards will have won game seven the day before we leave so I suppose I wont need to go there.

It's something Chase has done for the past F&W years. This year the lounge is on third floor of American experience in Epcot. I believe it is open to any Chase credit card holders, not just Disney visa. You get free soft drinks and catch relax in air conditioning! This link should have all the info. Should be neat to check out.

Hats off to your Bucs for a winning season and a thrilling series. However now you guys can just focus on Disney and you're first F&W...try and get some sleep tonight....yeah right :lmao:
