Does anyone know why the flights on Thursday and Friday before Columbus Day are more expensive than Spring Break Flights?

The cheapest I can find right now is like $218 one way. I've never had to fly anywhere this time of year, is that a good price?

Supply and demand.

I mean I get that but the flights home are all $100 or less so they are just trying to get one side of it and not both?

Plus Labor day is cheap both ways.

And Columbus day (if you google it) is not technically a time when a lot of people do travel

Depends on where you are flying from.
Fall break is very popular and is that weekend in most areas.

We moved our normal October trip out of that week this year due to crowds and flight costs. Thurs-Tues over fall break was approaching $500 RT to Louisville/Cincy, we moved it up a week and have flights for just over $200. (We don't do Allegiant/Frontier).

We’re flying home from a cruise the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend and yes, flights are expensive. Managed to randomly get a return flight for $140 on JetBlue. Usually we stick with Southwest roundtrip but prices were outrageous coming home.

Were flying from Buffalo which is usually roundtrip $200 total so $209 is steep. But I guess Ill keep an eye on it and just get it if I have to

We are also flying home from Disney that Sunday and I paid a crazy high price on Delta for our tickets.

Fall break/teacher in-service days combined with the Columbus Day holiday for some schools makes it a popular travel weekend.

The ones I was looking at were cheaper than what we paid for for spring break and this year later august. (all UNITED)
