Columbus Day-is it busy for the week or just the weekend?

We want to avoid the Columbus day crowds, anyone have a guess which days to avoid? Is it busy the long weekend, the week before or the week after?

I have found that the weekend is usually pretty busy, summer busy!. The crowds really die off in the week following the holiday. Can't speak for before the weekend....
