Columbia University prof wishes for "a million Mogadishus".

Hmmmmmmmm...................

I wonder what the fate of the learned professor would be if he stood in down town Baghdad and urged "a thousand Desert Storms"

or in downtown Bejing and called for "A thousand Tianamen Squares"

this buffoon is lucky he is in the United States.

He's also lucky that ignorance is not a crime.............

What a gutless coward this guy is!!!

April 2, 2003 -- Nearly a week after Columbia University professor Nicholas De Genova called for the mass slaughter of U.S. troops, the man who wants "a million Mogadishus" fears so much for his own life he is refusing to go to class.
De Genova claimed death threats forced him to skip his 2:40 p.m. Latino History course at the university's Hamilton Hall - the first lecture he had scheduled since the March 26 anti-war "teach in" in which he referred to the 1993 "Black Hawk Down" incident in which 18 GIs were slain.

Instead of the professor, some 25 students were greeted by three graduate students, who said class was canceled and the professor was in hiding.

"Because Nick is afraid for his life, nobody knows where he is," said one, who refused to identify herself.

Ok, that was probably a poor subject but from an academic standpoint a professor that refuses to meet contract requirements is on shaky ground. The highest offense is not conducting class! You have to be practically dead with illness or have some other pretty good excuse.

I know that our security policy would require substantiation of just threats (and we sometimes have students who make threats you might be surprised) and then we'd have a security escort. No way would be just be allowed to "hide".

No tenure and not showing up for class, he has grad assistants and didn't give them the lesson to conduct for the session? Man, he is SO gone at the end of the semester if not before.

I was wondering myself why in the world he didn't have a grad assistant teach the class using the notes he provided. That's what most professors do if they have to miss class. It's a lot better than allowing the students to be completely shortchanged. They are paying for a service and should receive something for that money.
