Columbia Harbour House - My Truth About Series

We've loved CHH since the late 70s and it's the only place we eat in MK. I noticed during some of the more recent trips that the fish has changed from what was once along the lines of Long John Silvers to more like Mrs. Paul's frozen fish. I know things change over time and the quality at WDW restaurants has been in general decline for several years. We still enjoy CHH, maybe it's time to switch to the tuna sandwich.

Thanks for your review, I'll look forward to reading more from you.:earsboy:

I love this place also! The smell of the food inside is so great. I like the fried chicken salad and the triple choco cake. My daughter had the fried chicken & fish combo and it was really good also.

another thumbs up for CHH :thumbsup2 feels more like a TS restaurant---would definitely do again!!!!!

Absolutely LOVE this place! We eat here every year and ate here for our arrival dinner last year. I always get the chicken and fish combo and never let down. Great atmosphere and service to

Can you describe the Chicken and Fish Combo? Is it really greasy? How heavily breaded is it?

As deep fried food goes, it's not especially greasy. It has about the same amount of breading that you'd expect from frozen product.

As an update, we ate at CHH last weekend. The place was an absolute zoo with the new queuing system they have set up. I think we waited in line for 25 minutes to get our food.

As for the food...it's as I stated in my earlier post: Used to be like LJS, now it's like Mrs. Paul's. They've gone from something that actually resembled a piece of cooked fish to something like a fish finger. I think the chicken strips have been changed to chicken nuggets. I love the building/theming and the location, but we likely won't be eating there again anytime soon.

Thank you very much for replying! I was thinking of most likely sticking with the amazingly fresh tuna sandwich, and I am now confident in my choice to do so.:lmao: I'm not a huge fried food eater, so that Chicken And Fish probably isn't for me.

Thanks again!:goodvibes

How does the new queuing system work? Do you wait in lineto order and pick up your food and then someone shows you to an open table?

CHH is one of our favorite counter service restaurants. Used to love the Chicken/Pineapple and pecan salad. Don't know if they still have it.

Not totally sure how the new queue system is operating, but I always hear people talking about it. For all I know, it will have changed three times by my August vacation!

The Chicken, Pineapple, and Pecan salad sounds great! There was a salad I was interested in before my last trip (it had pears and goat cheese and other things), but they changed it in May or something, three months before my trip. It seems that the salads at CHH change all the time!

We were there in January and I posted pics of my review. It was OK, but I reallly wanted fish & chips in Epcot at Britain but it didn't work out. We liked our food from CHH but it wasn't by any means amazing.

We've been eating at CHH for years. They used to have a wonderful Boston Creme Pie for dessert that was fabulous - sadly gone now. We have a group of 6 adults and a toddler which includes some vegetarians going in September. This will be one CS where everyone can find something to please them.

That sounds really good! Much better than the standard Chocolate Cake fare they serve now. But they do offer that Apple dessert which is kinda different and special.

EDIT - I've wanted to make a change to my thread for a long time but never really knew how to best address the change. Because my threads deal with individual restaurants, they often do not engage much discussion because they are catered toward one thing. And other times readers feel they cannot post unless a comment is relevant to the review in the first post. I am changing the title of the thread to allow for a completely open discussion of the restaurant.

With the change of title and intent of this thread, the moderators took a few minutes to discuss where this thread should go now.

Reviews are one person's opinion, and what the review board was set up for. There is some discussion amongst those posting on the review threads, but it's not an open discussion about a particular restaurant.

Open discussion is great, it's what the DIS is made of. However, an open discussion about a restaurant belongs on the main board where everyone can discuss a particular restaurant.

Since the OP wants to change their review to an open discussion, we are going to close the review thread (this one) and invite him to start an open discussion thread about Columbia Harbor House on the main board.
