Columbia Harbor House

We love this place. I love the shrimp. There was enough to share with my MIL.

I like CHH but havent found my fave there yet. I thought the shrimp platter reminded me of Capt Ds meaning very bland and left a greasy taste in my mouth.. Didnt care for the apple dessert it was dry and hard..

I want to try the clam chowder, the chicken and fish platter and the tuna sandwhich but I dont think Id like the bread..

DH and I usually get a bowl of clam chowder each and split the tuna sandwich . . .we think both are very good . . .

I also like the fried shrimp basket as well . . .:thumbsup2

CHH is the Long John Silver's of WDW. It's a decent CS but nothing to write home about. The second floor is our preferred seating area.

We ALWAYS eat at CHH when we're in MK!!! It's the best one there, if you ask me!

And no matter how crowded the first floor is, the second floor is usually always free and clear.

Just to give an example....this is from our trip last July - right in the middle of the busy season. Second floor at Columbia Harbour House:

And the Lighthouse Sandwich - hummus and broccoli slaw - so good!

My Husband and I eat there every time. It's definitely a must do. I'd have to say this is our favorite counter service to eat at without a doubt. I love their tuna sandwich, (the bread is SO good), and the fish and clam chowder soup is wonderful as well. Upstairs is definitely the best place to unwind and people watch. I'll be there this week! WoOHOO!

I am going to echo the :thumbsup2 for the shrimp basket - HUGE portion and yummy! I too would recommend getting a seat upstairs by the window to people watch.

We really like CHH, I had the fish basket the last time and thought it was really good and my DH had the shrimp basket. He let me taste his shrimp and let me tell you I know know what I am going to get the next time we are there :goodvibes

We eat here every time. :thumbsup2

Nice escape from the heat, lots of sit down room (haven't tried the 2nd floor yet!) & we like the food. Nice to have variety rather than another burger type place. Granted we try to avoid eating at peak meal times so we miss massive crowds.

BriarRosie;40581685I am not that crazy about the clam chowder. I'm not from New England said:
I'm from New England and won't be disappointed in the chowder. That's because I (and most others from New England) have NO expectations that any chowder served in Florida would be any good! :rotfl:

My DH got the shrimp basket on our last trip in Dec. 2010 and he liked it so much we had to eat there again before we went home. I got the tuna the first time, but after listening to him rave about the shrimp, I got shrimp the second time. They were incredibly good, and quite a generous portion (10 pretty big shrimp) for the money.

He's already talking about eating there on our upcoming trip in May.

I grew up outside Boston, and lived in Boston while attending BU, and I have to say I've only tried the chowder at CHH once. :sad2: I usually avoid seafood outside of New England, but shrimp is one of my exceptions.

Went there for the first time last July and I am now totally hooked on the Lighthouse Sandwich - whole grain bread, hummus, broccoli slaw and tomota. it was so good I started making these sandwiches when I returned from vacation.

Loved CCH, we went twice during our stay. Food is good and it's just a great place to relax and cool down for a bit. There was almost nobody upstairs both times we went (end of August), sat by a window and watched the HM queue. Only gripe was we tried to go another time for dinner and it was closed...at 5pm. They do close early some days during value season apparently.

DH loved the fried shrimp from CHH...it was not greasy or heavily coated

The hummus sandwich is surprisingly very very good, and I have gotten the shrimp basket the last two times there. This is my favorite place to eat in the MK. I was not impressed with the desserts, but the entrees are very good. Eating outside is nice during the nice weather season, but if it is too hot/rainy/windy/etc., definitely go upstairs.[/QUOTE]

My sentiments exactly!

Columbia Harbor House is our favorite CS lunch locale. We almost always go there when at MK. The chicken and fish strips are good, as was the shrimp. I'm very partial to the Tuna sandwich. The dining room atmosphere is enjoyable, doesn't feel like a "food court" the way some other CS choices do. Maybe becuase it's viewed as a "fish" place primarily, it usually doesn't seem as crowded as other options. Of course, we tend to eat lunch a little later (1 or 1:30pm). That way we're not still full from breakfast and we miss the big lunch rush at high noon.

I am from New England ( not sure if that gives my opinion any extra merit:laughing:) - and I LOVE :lovestruc LOVE the Shrimp Plate - The shrimp are very fresh, sweet and crispy - not a lot of extra icky batter - the fries are yummy and the coleslaw is super sweet, crunchy and fresh. And I LOVE the apply pie tart thingy. We eat here at least twice a trip.

I'm from New England and won't be disappointed in the chowder. That's because I (and most others from New England) have NO expectations that any chowder served in Florida would be any good! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: I think that the soup starts to condense when it sits in the warmer too long, and it gets too thick a consistency for my taste. If I can catch it when it isn't too gloppy, it's not bad. I have never been to New England, so I don't have any basis for comparison. ;)

We love Columbia as well! The BLT salad is fantastic and the seating upstairs is very peaceful.
