OKW is my home resort, which I love, except for one thing... I do not like pastel pink and green. Have they ever updated the interior decor of any DVC's, or are these permanent up to now? I know it sounds trivial, but these colors do not give me a peacful feeling.

The color has always been these shades of pastels. If you go south to the real Key West, you will see that this is the correct color scheme. Sorry you don't like it. Fortunately they have 4 other on site DVC resorts; one is bound to be more to your liking. And the great thing about DVC, is we get to stay at which ever one we want.

Not to my knowledge. And they won't have a happy camper here if they change the color scheme. ;)

the Wilderness Lodge villas would appeal to you, with their dark greens, blues and reds.

As stated the pastels at OKW are in tune with the theme, therefore the decor might change but the color scheme won't.

Beach Club villas is somewhat similar in pastel colors also.

So funny to see this. We just finished adding on a room to our house. Leaving next week for OKW and I told DH just last night I don't want to think about paint until we get back because I love the OKW colors. I was even thinking of going by the paint store and picking up chips to bring with me to match.

I just stayed at OKW and I do not feel that the colors are pastel at all. They are a different shade. I loved the colors and I actually would like to paint my living room and kitchen some of the colors that are used at Old Key West.

I really WANT to like the colors at OKW because I like everything else there. For some reason I just don't feel at ease with pink and green. In general I like the tropical colors, but the bedroom colors don't work for me. The livingroom is great, and I love the exterior colors too. I know it's just a silly problem I have. Thanks for encouraging me! Does anyone else find that color affects their mood?

I would never chose the OKW colors for my own home, but I love the themed choices at all the WDW resorts. They fit with what they were designed for. I probably would not like the SSR decor, because it isn't my style at all, but it wouldn't stop me from staying there some time in the future.

Colours definitely impact mood

What do you think of the colours in the bathrooms there?

Is there a specific WDW resort you have been to where you like the colour scheme?

Thanks

I'm not a big fan of the colors either, but I love OKW. So much so, that I just joined DVC (pending ROFR)at OKW.

Our love of OKW was the main reason re went with a resale. We're thinking though, of purchasing more points from DVC at SSR once we get through this phase of the process. I have to admit, that part of the reason is to get into a more non-pastel resort (as well as to get more points).

I agree with Diane, I think Disney's choice of colors for all their resorts is right on the money and in complete line with the resort's theming. Some of the color combinations and various patterns they have chosen for their resorts, I would have never in a million years picked, but somehow Disney makes it all work and the overall look is usually perfect for the theming of the resort.
The one WDW resort that is a little too over the edge in the color and pattern depts for me though is the Contemporary. Those rooms have some very bizarre colors and patterns in them!

Thanks all for your input and patience in this seemingly trivial matter. Only a DVC'er could understand my consternation in this matter. I've looked at my first OKW experience more closely. We were in a two bedroom because we brought my mother. It was a ground level unit with a lot of trees around it, so it was surprisingly dark. Also, the pool we overlooked was being renovated, so our livingroom view was obscured by a tarp, further darkening the unit. As you guys pointed out, theming is one of the beauties of Disney. The darkness, however, detracted from this tropical theme. I also feel kind of silly, but I just realized the pink and green theme was mainly in the studio portion, so if we only stay at OKW in one bedroom, upper floor units I think we will be thrilled. For our studio and two bedroom trips we can stay at other resorts. As you guys also pointed out, another major attraction is the flexibility in DVC. So I'm happy again! Thank you for taking the time to put in your two cents worth.
