Colorado Cruisers

"We paid $230. but NOT in December. In September. It seems like that is average or high for Sept. I never see it higher. It sounds like Dec is a different story. "
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jen,

Was your $230 ticket for a non-stop flight or did you have layovers. My $320 ticket for December was for a non-stop flight...Maybe that's why I paid so much. But it's totally worth it!

Cristi,

I didn't realize you need 4 airline tickets. Ouch! I hope the prices drop for you. :) One thing I forgot to mention....After I purchased my airline tickets in August, (for $320 a piece), I was curious to see what airfare was in September. (For my flight in December.) Can't remember what week it was in September, but the ticket price for my flight dropped below $300 per ticket! Can't remember how much, maybe $285 a piece. I'm not kidding. Had to show my husband because I was so shocked. But a couple days after this advertised price, the tickets skyrocketed over the amount I paid.

So I wouldn't suggest waiting until September to purchase airfare, but you can at your own risk. Good luck!

Sorry. It was non stop on Frontier. I could have flown for 180.00 and changed in Dallas with a half an hour layover but the stress wasn't worth it. I never pay a lot to fly into Orlando (or Fort Lauderdale, Fort Meyers..). It must be the time of year I go? :confused3 One options....certain airlines will lower the rate if the price goes down (I know america west and southwest(I know, I know)) maybe you could look into who does this and you will be protected (Frontier doesn't)....Also, depending how desperate for a good rate you are...Albequrque (mutilated spelling sorry) is what...6 hours and southwest flies out of there...My friends in so illinios just paid $39.00 each way (adjusted down after the new rate came in).

Heidi - We do this Vegas/SF/Reno trip every year (or at least for the past 4 years) The cruise was one of those once in a lifetime type things (hopefully not). We have one more camping trip the end of Aug and then we're homebound for the rest of the year.

Jen - This was one of the few trips were we didn't actually walk around the strip because of the heat. I had to carry a sweater for the inside, but as soon as you walked outside, I was taking it off. I looked like some woman going through menopause :rotfl2:

I also have a hubby that sometimes you just have to shake your head about and try and remember WHY you married them :rolleyes1

Sandy - Thanks sweetie! I swear I have atleast 20 pounds just to lose off my butt alone. I'm going with 12 and we'll see how I feel/look from there.

You should try going to the tanning salon. I went for about 5 months before our cruise, to get a good base (plus tanned flab looks better than white flab ;)) I didn't burn once on our cruise (I still wore sunscreen though) and it was nice to have some color in those places that haven't seen the light of day in awhile :goodvibes

A get together when DCL gets home would be great, but we don't have to do Del Taco. Maybe something more central for everyone and one with a bar is always good :cool1:

I wonder if we got any rain by our house in that storm (Quebec & Park Meadows Pkwy). Our grass was frying before we left. I had heard that a cool front was coming in and it was going to be in the 70's??? That would be so nice.

It was in the 100's again here today, so we went to the waterpark. Tomorrow we are off to Lake Tahoe for the night. Should be cooler there :flower:

Only in Colorado can it hit 105 a week ago and have a high of 64 degrees today!!!! We had a very nice rain all night long last night. Just what we needed, this temp will be good for a few days but I want my HOT weather back again!!!!

Mom - I am very proud of you losing weight and now that you can fit into my clothes, I guess I need to guard them with my life!!!!! ;)

I just wanted to say hi to all the Colorado disers. My name is Brenda and My husband James and Daughter cady will be on the 14 day, August Repo Cruise We live in Green valley Ranch in Denver. We have been on a 4 day wonder for Christmas of 2003.So this Cruise we will really have a chance to relax and see the whole ship. ON the 4-day we never saw any of the Adults only areas, Bingo and I am sure many more must see places. We are in the last leg of the waiting. We want to rebook for our next cruise when we are on board. I will be booking as far out as I can I will be trying for my DD has a few days off from school. As it stands now school starts on the 15th and we leave on the 20th. she is missing 10 days of school. :teacher: I am sure she will be fine I just need to talk to her Teacher and let her know about this. I hope I get to know all of you take care.

Hi Dencord! Welcome to the thread. You are so lucky to be going on the repo cruise. We were so close to going (had qualified to win the cruise that Mix100 gave away). I used to live in Green Valley Ranch years ago before I got married. None of my boyfriends ever wanted to drive all the way out there to pick me up though :confused3 . Maybe that is why I married DH, he never had a problem driving out there. :goodvibes

Welcome Dencord, we will be on the same cruise. We are flying out to LA on the 19th and staying at the Holiday Inn San Pedro. Our first cruise was only 4 days also. It was just too short so we now opt for the 7 dayers. This will be our 5th cruise. When this came up we grabbed at it. Are you doing all the wine tasting etc? We will be there. Hopefully we can meet up on the cruise.

jHeidi, you've got that right. You have some cute cruising clothes. Want to loan me any?

Tera, I bet you got the rain. I am sure your lawn is perfectly happy now. We even got more rain last night. I said Del Taco cuz that is what DCLcruiser mentioned. All I know is that we need bigger tables!! I know what you mean. Tan flab is much better than nasty old white flab!! My legs are so gross! By the way, watch the menopause jokes!! lol

Cristi, exactly where is Green Valley Ranch? You implied that it is on the outskirts of Denver somewhere.

Sandy, We lived at about 48th and Tower. I think it has probably grown a lot since I lived there (~15 years ago). When we lived there the closest grocery store was over in Montebello. I don't know about now, but I have been hearing radio commercials about GVR.

I would be up for a Dismeet, I will keep checking this thread.

Heidi - That's what I love about living in Colorado... it's so unpredicable :goodvibes

Hi Dencord and Welcome!! How old is your DD? I have two, 12 years old (soon to be 13) and a 10 year old. Both my girls missed 7 days of school when we went on our first cruise this past May, but it was at the end of the school year, so I wasn't too worried. I'm sure your DD won't be missing too much those first few weeks. Be ready for some homework when you get home :crazy2:

Sandy - We can go where DCL wants to go since he's been gone so long, of course, as long as it's not McDonalds

I need to call the friends of course that is housesitting and see about the rain. I'm sure it rained on our watering day

Sorry about the menopuasue joke, but I didn't think you were THAT old :hyper: Just kidding.... ;)

We're off to Lake Tahoe today, so won't be able to check back until tomorrow night.

Brenda - welcome to our fun thread!! There are a lot of great people on the DIS!!!!

I am up for a DIS meet anytime!!!

What happened to Black Unicorn, she seemed to have disappeared?

Okay is it going to snow today? Outside looks like one of those cold days that it is going to snow!!!! Are we in summer still?

Teresa, I am THAT old. Oh man, it sucks!

Don't complain Heidi. I love the weather today. A break from the 100's is nice.

Cristi, I am glad that you will be up for a DISmeet when DCLcruiser gets home. If you order pineapple juice or cranberry juice I will know exactly what you are up to. GOT JUICE? lol

Thanks for the warm Welcome :wave2:

Green Valley Ranch is a section of land that Denver bought from Aurora and Adams County 25 years ago in plans for the new Airport. and houses have been going up faster than most other areas in Colorado. We have lived here for 16 years. And we have grown so much. We have a new King Soopers, Wendys, Rec Center, K-8 Charter school and another one opening soon. A super Walmart 85% finished. An many new parks. We love it out here I work Downtown and it take me 20 to 25 min to get there. I look forword to getting to know you all.
To Val I am Packing already I just cant stand the waite 25 days seem like forever caint waite to sail with you and the Girls Cady still ask about another Swim Date. And to the other diser Jimmy from Littleton caint wait to meet you and your family on the Cruise.
My daughter is 9

Brenda, we have another DIS family down south on our cruise?? Could you please PM me their DISname and city and I will put them on the map! We need to light up Colorado! I'm heading into final updates and then no more. Packing will soon commence!

A swim date would be fun, this weekend is still open and so are the following two Sundays. If this works, let me know! :flower: Maybe try the cool new swim area in Community Park up here or else one in your neck of the woods.

You see that mom (jiminyC_fan), Brenda said AND YOUR FAMILYon the cruise. I am part of your family, why am I not going? :confused3 ;) :bitelip:

Was at the dentist yesterday :teeth: talking about our cruise with the hygenist, Lisa. Last time I was there (in January), she was telling me about their land/sea adventure a few years ago and I was very excited :hyper: about our upcoming trip. We were comparing notes yesterday and she indicated that there had been a few changes since she'd been on her trip. I asked her if they planned to go again and she said no, that when they first got back, they talked about going again, but gradually they became less excited about it. If they had an unlimited vacation budget, absolutely they'd do it again, but there were other trips they wanted to take, too.
HOWEVER
By the time I left, she said I had gotten her so excited again about a Disney cruise, that she was now thinking about going again. And I thought, "My work here is done."
