Colorado Carjacking

Has anyone else seen this? I watched the entire event unfold live on HLN this morning.. crazy! He carjacked 3 cars, the first of which had a 4-year-old in the backseat, ran over a state trooper, sideswiped unsuspecting motorists then carjacked their vehicles, drove like a loony into oncoming traffic, caused numerous accidents (in one he lost a tire on the 2nd car he took then ran another person off the road and took her car), etc, etc.

The first car with the 4-year-old.. the little guy was left in there alone while his mom ran into a store. That had me shaking my head as well.

I didn't watch it but I read that the cop said it was 'only' 15 to 20 feet away that the mom left the kid in the car, as though that makes it ok.
