If you mail tomorrow by priority it should get here by Wednesday (Thursday at the latest). My mail will be stopped starting Saturday. If you aren't mailing priority, I wouldn't mail it until the 6th.

Is priority the 3 day or can you still use the flat rate box on that/ Its more expensive right?
When do you leave? Do you get back on the 6th?
And did you ever decide on your second play?
We just bought a "mini pack" of season tkts for next year. Rent, Ave Q, MARY POPPINS (:yay::yay:) and Phamtom.
I have a feeling I will end up waiting until the 6th.

Very cute! I love the patterned paper - I wish I had more of it so I could participate in swaps like that - I always find just ONE sheet left of papers I like. :(

ETA: AR, Avenue Q is hilarious - I loved it! Rent was good too, but I am slightly tainted by who I saw it with, so I can't accurately recollect my thoughts - I still like the music though, so that's what counts!

Priority is the 2-3 day post. You can use a flat rate box, the regular priority boxes, or just any ol' box for it. I would suggest if you aren't comfortable, then just wait until the 6th. We get back on the 7th so if you mail on the 6th, it will not get here before we get back.

As for shows, we are going to see Jersey Boys and Spring Awakening. This fall, we are going to go down to Tampa to see In the Heights and DS mentioned Avenue Q. He'd love to see Phantom, but I haven't heard if that one is coming near us. DS will check and let me know.

ZTH, DS loves Rent. We never got to see it on the stage, but we have the DVD of the final Broadway show as well as the movie version. DS knows all the songs and is planning to perform one of them with a friend of his for Districts this year.

Your son does Districts? That's great! Has he gotten in before, or is this his first year trying out, or what?

My DBF used to do it in high school, and he made it to All-State once, and said it's a lot of fun!

Yes, DS has gone to Districts the past 2 years. Last year he made it to State in 2 different performance pieces (a duet and an ensemble). The ensemble piece he was in got straight superiors at State and they could have gone to Nationals, but they didn't go.

ok, since Im sending 2 boxes I will wait. And then if anything else should happen.....
DH often plays soundtracks in his car and loves Rent. DS got tired of it and decided he couldnt stand it. He has a friend who is in a youth production and DS wanted to go (this was yesterday), only because of his friend. He decided to watch the dvd. He comes out of his room yelling "I Love Rent" why didnt you tell me! HELLO? Maybe its an age thing?

What are Districts? I know your ds did really good last year, why didnt they go? Is he a senior this year? Is the going to study theater?
When we went on NCL we were able to talk to the Second City guys and they were so good with DS, gave him some advice and were very encouraging but then also told him about all of the other careers with a theater major and not to limit himself.
Ok, rambling, sorry!

Probably a good idea on mailing.

Districts is a judged competition that narrows down the performers who will compete at state. Our district is the entire panhandle, I think. Each school can send a certain number of performers and each performer can compete in 2 categories. They also have entries for the technical side of things too. Those that get a certain mark at Districts go onto State. The ensemble group decided not to go to Nationals because there wasn't going to be much offered there that wasn't offered at State and it's hard to get 23 kids out to Nebraska.

DS will be a junior this year and he's really looking forward to State this time around. He can go to state even if he doesn't perform because he'll be able to do Junior auditions for scholarships. He wants to study theatre, but he's realistic enough to know that he probably won't end up on stage for a career. He wants to do set design and architecture so that he has a back-up plan.
