Color Swap Thread for page groups

due date August 14, 2009

Jul 20 - -last call for angels
August 7 -- mail date
August 14 -- due date

Angels: I will pm you with a reminder if you forget to check in. After 48 hours with no response I will request angels for your spots. If you are going on vacation or will be out of town, please check in early. Please do not sign up for more than you can handle. If you need an angel, please ask for one as soon as possible. I will not be asking for angels after July 20. I will swap out between groups as best I can.

THIS SWAP IS OPEN TO ALL SWAPPERS. NEWCOMERS ARE WELCOME AS ALWAYS. If you are new to swapping on the DISboards, please limit yourself to 2 groups.

Requirements for Page Groups:
You will make one 12x12 page for each person in your group. (Most are groups of 4) Each page should have:
1. photo spots: 2 4x6 (or 5x7) OR 1 4x6( or 5x7) and 2 smaller spots OR 4 or more small spots, embellished once
2.one element or several small embellishments
3.a space for journaling -- it can be an element,a hidden tag, a photomat that opens…if you make an element for journaling, then you have fulfilled your element requirement. If your journaling spot is hidden, you still need an element or several small embellies
4.blank topper, 2 layers, embellished, whatever size works OR a blank space for a title (no larger than 3 x12??) AND 2 co-ordinating papers 4x12 each

You can see examples of pages in the swap gallery in the latest MK swap and also in the current Sports & More pages swap.

Using patterned papers and other colors
Yes! You can use your patterned paper in this swap. Your pages do not have to be solid cardstock only. I am requesting that you do not use themed papers such as bats, Christmas trees, brothers etc. We have a holiday swap and the weird pages swap on the calendar that will cover those topics. These groups are meant to be theme-less, just about the color. In the end, your pages should represent the color you picked -- no one should have to look at the label to see if your group was blue or green.

You can use black, white, or neutral in your groups. Again, in the end, your pages should represent the color you picked.

Unless otherwise stated in your group, you can use any shade in the color spectrum. If your color is blue, use any shade of blue from midnight blue to baby blue. However, if you selected blue in the pastel group, keep it light. I realize we may have different opinions on whether a color is in the blue family or the green family -- the swapper makes that call.

Packaging Instructions
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS THROUGH CAREFULLY. If you are unable to package and label as follows, I respectfully ask that you do not sign up for this swap. Items that are not packaged and labeled properly are an added burden to the hostess; it really slows down the sorting process and increases the chances of you not getting back the pieces you are entitled to.

Place all 4 pages in one Ziploc bag that is able to close. Label the bag with your DISname, name and group information:

Each page should be signed or labeled on the back as well.

I am looking for feedback again.

Please review the requirements -- specifically the topper #4. Does this seem fair? Are the requirements clear?

Combo groups -- I was running out of ideas - -if you have some, let me know.

I really like the way you have this set up. I especially like the boy and girl combo groups. I've made a list of which ones I'm signing up for!!!:thumbsup2

I think the toppers choice sound good- the amount of paper is what one would use to make a 2 layered topper with words.

Rebecca

I've been swap free for awhile, but I think I'll definitely join a few groups in this one. I think they're fun to put together.

Just to clarify - the boy and girl themed groups - how much are you thinking those would be themed toward boys and girls? I like some of the boy color combos, and I would be interested in those colors, but I have no use for a "Boy" themed page.

For the blank topper - "Whatever size works" - does this mean whatever orientation works too? Like could we make a blank square box, instead of the usual rectangle?

Good questions. This needs to be clarifed. Actually, these pages should be theme-less. If you are in a boy group, please don't use girly embellishments -- flowers, butterflies. If you are in a girl group, please don't use boyish thing -- although I can't think of an example. Does this make sense? Your "boy" groups must be good for males, but it could be good for females too. The purple page above would not be good for a boy group -- all ther other pages would be fine for boy or girl.

Topper -- whatever size works -- uh...yes, I guess I do mean you can use other than a rectangle. I'm really struggling with this -- does this sound like a good idea to you?

Yes, this does sound like a good idea to me. When I make pages from scratch, I don't always do a completely linear horizontal title like a topper gives you. I also use squares, circles. I realize this makes it harder for you to define, but I think how you have it worded works.

Okay then -- thanks for reading through and responding. If you think of any other color combos, let me know.

Color Combo groups info

I was getting out the paper I wanted to use and I realized that what I had on hand didn't match up with the groups listed. Now for me, no big deal, I just changed a few of the groups. (so if you printed it you may want to check it out again). But in doing so I realized that I think we should have some leeway here with these groups, grp 15-20 -- if you want in on a color combo group, please just name the group and the colors you want to use. I don't want duplicates within the group and if it is boy grp, keep it gender neutral or NOT feminine and if it is a girl group, keep it gender neutral or NOT boyish.

So for groups 15-20 we don't have to use exactly that combination of colors? For example, if I want to do Group 17 #b - blue, cream, brown, I could change it at signup to be blue, cream, and green?

I've been going through my paper trying to pull what I could use and I'm having a hard time matching the combos completely.

Yes, that is what I mean. I was having the same problem too. (Psst -- pick a different spot, I'm doing blue brown & cream:thumbsup2)

Do you think I should just put the groups up blank?

Thanks Susan. And, fine, I'll pick a different group!!!!!!:rotfl:

It might be less confusing if the spots were left blank and then just let everyone tell you what 3 colors they'll be using.

I'm starting to think that too. I leave this up for now, just to give ideas of what these groups are meant for, but I'll open them up blank and let you all pick.

This will open tomorrow a little bit after 9am. I will open the elements first. I will change the title to sign ups open now and will post "sign ups open" in the thread.

If you haven't looked over the last few posts please do so. I still have the color combos listed to give you an idea of what I mean, but I will take them down and you will just pick any trio that works for you, keeping to the boy/girl theme.

Also, group 21 was added, it is a black group -- black & white, Bl & red, bl & pink, bl & silver -- I think I just missed it earlier.

Later tonight, I'll probably put in my own choices once I have them finalized.

Any more questions?

My choices:
Group 4 – Brown
Group 9 – Pink
Group 11 – either burnt orange or green
Group 15, 16 or 17 – blue, cream, and green
Group 15, 16, or 17 – green, blue, brown
Group 18, 19 or 20 – yellow, orange and green
Group 21 – black and pink

1. Red
2. Blue
5. Purple
6. Pink
7. Yellow
14- patterned
18/19/20- purple, pink, green (I don't care which group)

Thanks,
Rebecca

Could I get groups

15. brown, green, yellow
16. blue, red, green
17. blue, green, orange

Thanks!!
