Ok I give up! Im gonna ask my dis freinds for help. I am printing 6 vacation photos to go in black frames with mats over my bed. Now I cant decide if I want color or black and white.... What do you think?

I forgot to make a poll and now I dont know how.

both are beautiful, but i feel like the colors in the color version are just much more striking. maybe if the black and white had a higher contrast i would feel differently, but i'm leaning towards color.

In my opinion B&W always looks better on the wall :thumbsup2 But if you have a desk at work or a home office the colors would look great in smaller frames...you could rotate them every 2 months or so...That's what I do but then again that's just me :goodvibes

I really like black and white pictures, but for that particular picture, I'd say color. I love the orange and the blue together.

If you go with b&w then bump up the contrast a bit. There's no true white or true black in the version you have posted which makes it look a little washed out. If you did that, I would go b&w. :thumbsup2

A lot depends on the colors you already have in the room. If you are using a lot of black and white in the room as accents, I'd stay with that theme. If you are using colors similar to those in the picture, go with the color.

I would go for the b&w. I have the option of b&w tints on my camera, which is what I'm doing for the photos I want blown up for the wall.

With that, I get the overall b&w look but there's still aspects of color coming in. What color are the walls?

Color. I don't know if you made the image smaller for the DIS but there is a lot of Pixelization in the image. Make sure you have the image at a high enough resolution when you print it.

There only going to be 8 by 10 photos. Yea, I think they ended up pixelized when I was playing with them. I have the orginals on the computer. The room is odd. Its got DEEP brown funiture (All wood) white walls (i rent), brown earth tones on the bed, and some burst of color in a velvet art picutre (hot pink, turquoise and yellow, but its only a 8 by10) and some random turquoise accessories.
there are some other photos that are going up too so that have better contrast, the rest are scenery but one (which is me on a motercycle, but a fav)

Would it look odd if I did a mix of both? I was thinking 3 color, 3 b&w. I have 3 that look so good in color and 3 I like in black and white. What color mat should I use?

Since the overall color scheme of the room sounds very vivid from your description, I'd go with color prints.

If you don't mind the graininess and lower quality of the color photo, then color. If you are trying to hide that fact some, then the b&w would be the way to go.

If you are hanging them all together and they aren't all the same quality, color, grainiess....., then b&w would also be the way to go.

You could have 3 beautiful photos, but 1 bad one is going to stand out & draw your eye to it.
