I need a haircut and to get rid of my gray. I have the haircolor now, but I am probably going to get my hair cut tomorrow. Should I wait until after the cut to color it or go ahead and get busy with Miss Clairol tonight?

My stylist always does the color before the cut... :goodvibes

If you are doing the color yourself then cut first. Less hair, less mess.

Yes, stylists color first because they color on dry hair and cut on wet hair. I usually color my own hair so I'll get the cut first, that plus it gets off the old color on the ends and the color stays more even on my head. I am an ex hairdresser and I just find it easier to do mine this way.

My stylist always colors first.....then cuts. I think this may be because I get it done at the same time. I don't know if it really matters. I would still color first. I wouldn't want to go to a salon with gray.... if I wasn't getting color also.

I always get mine cut and then I color it - less hair to color that way.

I should probably clarify-- cut to me really just means trim. Like 1/2 inch or less and I have long hair.

Sounds like it doesn't really matter. So I just have to decide if I want to deal with it tonight.

I say either way you want. :) Unless you are trying a new color or plan on needing the cut after the color. For instance, if you have porus ends and get any color on the ends that shouldn't be there, you may want to color tonight and cut tomorrow. Otherwise, no big deal.

yes, it does not matter. :)

I get my stylist to cut my hair one week then color it the next. Goodness knows, its horribly expensive, so this way I can....

1. divide the expense into 2 paydays

2. I dont spend 2 hours(or more) there on either day.
