Colonnial Williamsburg

I've not been there before, but a friend of mine swears by the Great Wolf Lodge. Apparently their pool is more like a water park. I do understand that it's fairly pricey, though.

We are going to be there next month and have decided to bite the bullet and book The Great Wolf Lodge. They have an amazing water park. Good luck with your decision.

I am not sure if I want to do indoor waterpark. We are going to one later in the year. And unless I am crazy their price is crazy high.

Kings Creek Plantation has both indoor and outdoor pools. Great condo units.

We were in that area a few years ago, family of five for one week.
We rented a timeshare apartment, two bedroom, two bathrooms, full kitchen, bed settee in the living room. Use of all the facilities on the resort including pools. Being gated it was very secure and the kids could go off and meet others. It was called Greenfield Plantation then but I believe it is called Williamsburg Plantation now. It was excellent value for money.
We voluntarily sat through a one hour timeshare presentation for the free breakfast and we each received a $50 visa card which we turned in at the front desk against the bill!

We are headed there on Monday. We are staying at the Best Western Historic Area. I got it on Orbitz for $40 a night. The reviews are mixed. I'm not expecting anything like the Ritz. It has an indoor pool and a free breakfast.

I can tell you where NOT to stay- Quality Inn Lord Praget--- what a dump!!

Just back from our trip. The Best Western Historic Area on Bypass Rd. is not the greatest. We only paid $40 a night for it, but if I had paid more, I'd be very unhappy. It was clean enough, but the air conditioning sounded like a jet engine, and the free breakfast was AWFUL. The place is a bit worn down. It would not be my top choice. The Hampton Inn on Bypass Road looked very nice....every time we passed it, we wished we had been staying there!

I don't have a suggestion of a good place, but I'd avoid the Fort McGruder Radisson at all costs. That was THE most horrible chain hotel I've ever had the displeasure of staying in. Everything about it--beyond the fancy lobby--was awful. This was in summer 2001. It had so many problems, I can't imagine it's improved much since.
