So DS (9 1/2) has taken an interest in wearing cologne and I wanted to know if that is too soon to allow him to wear it and if anyone knew if the ones at AFKids would be appropriate?? TIA

I would go for more of a body spray as opposed to a cologne which is more concentrated. I think the Axe body spray would be appropriate; Bath & Body Works also has a collection for guys called Twilight Woods. They also have several sprays too.

My sons both started wearing the Abercrombie Kids cologne at that age. I think we have every scent ever produced by them. After smelling all of the AK cologne, I will say that my absolute favorite is from Hollister. It is their cologne for guys that smells like the ocean. The AK cologne always gave me a small headache smelling it, but the Hollister scent is heavenly - I actually look forward to my teen wearing it.

My son uses Tag or Axe. He uses the bodywash and the body spray.
I even bought him Irish Spring body wash which he liked! Avon also has
some which you could possibly sample (usually right in the book) but it may be rather close to Christmas for ordering.

My 10 year old likes Jake by Hollister. But I'm too cheap to get it for him, so he happily settles for Chocolate Temptation by Axe & I agree it smells really good.

My 12 year old son and his friends love the new Old Spice lines, especially the Denali. The deodorant smells really good and now he's a huge fan of the new spray too, at only $4 or so it's much better than the $40 bottle of Jake by Hollister he emptied with his friends.

Hmm hadn't thought about trying the Axe brand out..And it certainly is more budget friendly lol..this isn't the brand with the sexual induendo commericals is it?? I know there is one and I certainly don't want to send him that message!! I will have to check out BBW too..completely forgot to look there!

Woow...my little brother wasn't interested in this stuff until he was a teen. Is it a trend nowadays for pre-teen boys to wear cologne? It seems so odd to me.

My 13 year old likes the Axe products too! He uses the body wash and the body spray.

CVS has $2 ECB for the Axe gift set this week.

Hollister, A&E, Aeropostale all have great light scents.

I'd rather my son smell like vomit than Axe:lmao::lmao::lmao: That crap is crazy strong and headache inducing -- even the deodorant is overwhelming! :rotfl:

Ohhh the EC make it that much more appealing :) :)

And @ OP I don't know where his sudden fascination is with it..but he def. got a hold of his Dad's cologne during Thanksgiving and was so proud that he smelled good so I guess it's that time..geesh they grow up soooo fast :/

Axes' commercials are full of innuendo and VERY inappropriate no matter what your age, IMHO.:sad2:

Also, the products smell like death and disgusting and I don't know what. They act as female repellent, not the sex god serum they are marketed as. Any time a smell Axe on a guy I just start gagging and my eyes water up, and a lot of my friends are the same.

So while I know the temptation to buy your DS a girl repellent to stave off those girlfriends for a while is strong, please don't buy him Axe! :rotfl2:

I really like Lucky You. I bought it for my husband as a mini from Gordmans, just to try and my 10 & 5 year olds have used it all, so they are getting thier own bottles this year as stocking stuffers. Its a clean smell, but can be a bit much if used in excess.

My DS9 wears Axe (the blue one-sorry don't remember the exact scent name). He asked me for it in the beginning of the school year because a couple of his friends were using it after gym class, this is the first year that they actually change clothes for gym(4th grade). Now, all of the boys in his class use Axe after gym class. He never uses any other day just after gym (I have no idea why).

Personally, I don't like the way it smells and can't wait until he showers but, he thinks he smells great!

Agreed- I like fiji too. Now- I normally would NEVER dream of buying Old Spice, but their new lines really are nice. I bought my hubby a big gift set for $15 and it includes tons of stuff.

Thank goodness -- I thought I was alone in my hatred :rotfl:

I remember getting an e-mail from a 5th grade teacher at the beginning of the school year gently reminding parents who had not had the deodorant discussion with their kiddos yet that it was definitely time, and for the boys in particular. Then her after Christmas e-mail mentioned that there was nothing like walking into a classroom full of 6th grade boys, all of whom are wearing competing scents, most which have been applied very liberally.
Careful what you wish for, huh? :rotfl2:

My DS is another fan of Jake (from Hollister) and I happily buy it for him because I like it too. But it's not exactly budget friendly.

We did have the discussion about less being more when it comes to cologne after he went through his first bottle in about a month though. That was partly to save money, and partly to save everyone around him. ;)

Haha so I saw at the store today..definitely NOT something I am promoting to him lol...
I ended up going with Old Spice which I didn't expect but they had something called Aqua Surf and it really smelled appropriate for a preteen and not too manly..I was very pleased with how many options they have so if he doesn't like what Santa leaves in his stocking he can always try something different ;)
