Ok so I know there are a bunch of other seniors on here like me. Who MUST be going through the same college stress as I am!
So I figured we could use a thread to talk about the applications process, the auditions process for some of us (like me) and finally...the GETTING IN PART!
So have you started on apps?
Anyone having to do auditions of any kind?
I have to, I want to teach chorus so I have vocal auditions
Anything else?
Just talk.

Seniors 08!

I applied to 7 colleges like 3 or 4 weeks ago. I was the first person in my school this year to get all my applications in. But then I had to wait like 2 weeks for my school to get my reccomendations and transcript in. It was deffinately nerve racking. But now I just have to wait, which isn't much better...but all the colleges I applied to are on rolling admission so hopefully I will get the letters after Thanksgiving or around then atleast.

Has anyone applied early decision anywhere? I haven't
what is your top school? Birmingham-Southern or Stetson
What are thinking about majoring in?I'm thinking about double majoring in Polititical science and mathematics and minoring in pre-law

Me too me too!
I'm almost done thank god. I have my app's all filled out waiting to be submitted. Just waiting for 1st term grades to be released (Nov 16th) with transcripts, and finalize my essays. Most of my schools are rolling admissions so I'm hoping for an answer soon after submitting. I'm applying to 4.. Curry, Simmons, UMassBoston, UNH. Any one of them would be fine but my #1 is Curry (Nursing major). I am so excited for it to be over with.. I can deal with waiting for a reply but I hate knowing that not everything is done yet :(

Yeah I know what you mean.
I am like 90% done with apps, most of mine are going out within this week.
It's very nerve racking. I'm also one of those people who always feels like they are forgetting something, so I keep checking my envelopes.
I'm majoring in music education...which requires auditions!

Good luck!

ok, i am very confused about how the american system of college works. In the UK we have to do exams called A levels to get into university, and if you get the right grades your in. We also have UCAS which deals with all the universities for us. How does ur system work?

well we have to choose a couple colleges that we want to apply to, and find out their requirements it is normally an application, an essay, high school transcripts, reccomendations and stadardized test scores. Then you have to take a stadardized test, you can either take the SATs or the ACTs or both if you want, and you can take them as many times as you want. the scoring is out of 2400 points in the SAT (I dont know the ACT scoring I didnt take them) and it is out of 3 categories math, critical reading, and writing. so in each category the highest you can get is 800. I have heard that the ACT is a better test to take, that it is easier and tests you more on what you learn in school compared to the SAT which basically tests how well you take tests.

and then some schools have a minimum requirement for the SAT and ACT scores. so basically you have to choose a school, take the SAT or ACT, fill out applications, write atleast one personally statement(the essay) and get your transcript and reccomendations sent in by your school. then you wait forever to see what schools will accept you.

I did both the ACT and SAT.

Oooh, college is great!!! I think you all will really like it!!!

Keep me posted!

Anyone have senioritis?

I'm applying to 3 so far. I'm mostly done. I just have to finalize my essay, get my letter of rec, and my transcript. I'm nervous, but excited. I REALLY hope I get accepted into at least one! I meet all the requirements with room to spare, but I have the fear of not getting into any and having to go to a community college (which isn't a bad thing, I just want to go away to a really college/university).

LOL me too. Actually it started my 2nd semester of my sophomore year. I know people though who love it, so I just thought I would ask.

I've been actually on top of things, especially my grades and college stuff. But as soon as I send out apps and get accepted (hopefully!!) I know I'll start getting severe senioritis. =D

College applications..I hate how all of my schools require supplements that ask for MORE pointless essays like "What song would you sing if you were to perform at an impromptu talent show?"

Are you kidding?? I had senioritis in my junior year!

Seriously! My junior year we had to write a 10 to 15 page research paper and it was probably the hardest and most time consuming thing of my life, and as soon as I handed it in I was like "okay where is my diploma?"

I'm a junior but I'm so into the college searching thing. Right now my list is as follows: Ursinus, Gettysburg, Susquehannah, U of Delaware, Boston U, Boston C, William and Mary, Vanderbilt, American, Michigan.

I think that's it.

I'm a freshman and me and a friend are searching for colleges like crazy right now. We are SO excited for college even though we have 4 years left of highschool. Everyone even the juniors tell us we are freaks for already planning this and we just need to not care and have fun.
We are having fun. Searching for colleges. And we are both going for the same things so it's easier to search together for the best ones.
We just want to be prepared.

I asked a teacher and he told us we could even take the ACT our freshman year.
Me and that friend are planning on it, even if we have no idea of the questions. We'll know what it'll be like, and what to kinda study.
I can't wait till college!!! :D

Right now we have our eye on Michigan.

I know it sounds safe, but you really don't have to go to the same place that your friends want to go to. It just creates more tension when you meet other people, ect.

I looked at Vanderbilt, and I'm still considering it for medical school.

i'm only a sophmore but i've been planing since 7th grade...

i'll proboly go to a UC

i'm actualy taking collage classes already, well drama classes haha
