My dd starts college this September and I just wondered how anybody in the same situation work your holidays around it (I keep asking her is she sure she still wants to come with us but it's still a def yes lol! :rotfl2:
It looks like the only time we would manage 2 weeks is Easter or going of the college website from approx 12th July to 3rd week in august which I expect would be very busy and very expensive! :( I was hoping when she left school it would get easier!

TIA Debs xx

some colleges start a bit later than the usual school dates so might be a bit cheaper

We have the same problem for 2013. Our eldest plans to start at veterinary nursing college in September 2013 and going by this year's term dates they will start on the first Monday in September. We've booked the last 2 weeks of August, flying back so we're back in the UK for the day before they start. The parks are supposed to be quieter the last 2 weeks in August and prices are coming down by then. We're flying out on the sunday which is the day Virgin flights drop quite dramatically, they're £800 cheaper than the day before which has enabled us to book a DCL cruise.

I was hoping for that but when I looked for this year they go back on the 28th August, hopefully it may be different for next year, we went at that time last year and really enjoyed it so fingers crossed, plus woul give us extra time to save up going then too :thumbsup2

That's early! I suppose it differs depending on what part of the country you're in. Have you thought about Christmas? Colleges normally finish a bit earlier and if you can fly out by around the 15th flights are very cheap and you'll have a week of pretty quiet parks before they fill up for Christmas week.

Oh no! I thought it would be easier once they've finished school but you feel less inclined to take them out of college as it seems more important than school in a way. I'd try and squeeze in a couple of weeks in August but as late as you possibly can. Park crowds are less busy by mid august so you should escape the manic crowds of July.

Yep, think that will be the best option, she is going to a strict catholic college too so I don't think they would be very lenient on missing term time! :rolleyes1

We've not been back for 3 years because of GCSE'S and Uni. Youngest DS has just finished yr1 of 6th form and eldest DS has finished yr2 of a 4 year Uni course. Was hoping for August this year even though I know we'd struggle with the heat, but now eldest DS has resits

Next Summer they'll be 18 and 21 so keeping fingers crossed that we can try for end of August but I suppose it depends what youngest DS will go on to.

Thought it would be easier as they got older :(

I hope it doesn't come to that, I would really have withdrawal symptoms (might have to bribe her to stay at home lol) :rotfl:

Really hope you can get something sorted soon! :thumbsup2

I was doing a masters last year and I went to Florida for two weeks in the middle of it. They didn't mind they just said make sure I get the notes. So long as she has no assignments due in it shouldn't be a problem if she does see if she can hand them in early or something.

That reassuring, thank you! Although the way I feel at the moment I don't know if she she be coming on the oct trip, she's starting to stress me out big time - teenagers! :furious:
