I am graduating from college in a few short hours, and i'm just so full of mixed emotions. Happy of course, because i worked my butt off in school (graduating magna cum laude) and because its over, sad because its over, nervous because I am reading the opening prayer at graduation...I have been waiting for this day for so long, and I can't believe it's here!!

Any one else graduating from college soon? Congrats to you! How are you feeling? For those that did graduate, how did you feel?

Congratulations Melann!

I handed in my LAST paper yesterday, and will receive my Masters in two weeks (graduation is May 21st). It is such a wonderful feeling, yet I can't believe it's over! I returned to school at mid-life, to change careers. So here I am several years later, with a few dollars less, ready to roll!

Enjoy your graduation day!

First off....:cheer2: CONGRATS :cheer2:

I know when I graduated I was so happy....happy I didn't have to write another paper. ;)

Seriously though, It was tough and I was just proud that I did it. Just like I know you are proud of yourself. :D
BTW What did you major in?

I hope you enjoy your ceremony! :flower3:
I enjoyed mine because it wasn't too long as some of them tend to be lol
I especially enjoyed Neil Diamond singing "Forever NYU" :smooth:

Congratulations, Melann, on a job WELL done. What an accomplishment!!! Be proud. You will do well, both later today, and going forward in life.

Scary? Sure. Every step we take is scary. But when we step, we look back and learn from each one we have taken, looking forward to the next. If you look at the steps you have taken so far, feel comfortable in your next ones, you'll see.

And, Yardbird, you too!!! What a wonderful accomplishment and sense of fulfillment you must have, along with Melann here. My hat is off to you also, congratulations.

You both have done well. :wizard:

Congratulations!!! My Ph.D. is being conferred on the 22nd. I put off finishing my dissertation for so long that all I really feel is "Its about time". I'll continue in the same position I have had for the last three years, so its actually anticlimatic. The only difference now? I get to be called "Dr." and have to pay back my student loans. Oh Boy! :p

Enjoy your day and best wishes to you!! :sunny:

Edited: When I graduated from college I had many of the same feelings you are describing. Isn't it amazing how you can have so many different feelings at the same time? Its definintely a special day - an ending and a beginning.

Congratulations!!

College graduation didn't bother me too much. I knew I was starting law school the following August so I knew I wasn't going to have to jump into the "real world" just yet. I was nervous about starting law school and being surrounded by all new people. But I had my wedding to look forward to so that kept me busy. :)

Melann, Congratulations on graduating college, especially with magna cum laude! That is definitely something to be proud of!

When I graduated, I must say I was so proud of myself. I had dropped out of high school in the 11th grade--I have no idea why, I just hated high school with a passion! So, during my 20's I worked my way through college, earned B.A. in Accounting and Finance, and graduated when I was 30! So, it was exceptionally special to me, after facing so many difficulties to finally reach my goal! I was happy, excited, exhilarated and proud!

Congratulations!!!

My son graduates this weekend and he's SO happy and SO am I!!

I was happy when I graduated from college, too.......not sad at all.

I've been out for 35 years but I will NEVER forget how I felt when I graduated.

Some background - my family was very, very poor and no one ever went to college - very few finished high school. I had this goal to get a college degree, and I was never sure that it was REALLY going to happen.

I ended up taking extra courses (sometimes 21 hours in a semester) and finishing in 3 years - Phi Beta Kappa with a BS in math. I worked, had a scholarship, and had student loans. It was so very, very difficult to balance it all. I really needed to finish in 3 years so I could get a good job and help my brother go to college and it meant one less year of student loans and being poor.

I went to a very good but very exclusive private woman's college. It was a real culture shock to be around people with that kind of money when I often did not have a dime to my name. I made some wonderful friends that I still have and learned that money isn't everything. It's the kind of person you are that counts.

It wasn't just the fact that I graduated which was great - I knew that I had really attained a major lifetime goal at the age of 20 and I was so grateful. I could not have felt any more exhilerated if I'd won the lottery. I was just giddy with joy.

My very best wishes to all of you who are graduating this year!

Outstanding achievement:thewave: You may be a bit anxious about what lies ahead, but you should feel confident that your efforts thus far will go a long way to helping you attain your goal.
Congrats!:earsboy:

CONGRATS to you!

I felt excited, proud and nervous at mine.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

When I graduated, I felt ready to move on... my degree was leading to another, and I was looking forward to my wedding and starting my masters in just a few short months - so I was ready for that next chapter in life. I think everyone feels different... some people are heading right into their career, others are heading onto higher education, some feel that they rushed their exp and are sad its ending... For me, I was ready to move on. And very proud of myself!

COllege graduation IS something to be proud of. Hold that head high!!!!!!!!!!!!
