So I was meaning to tell you guys this earlier but I guess I forgot.

Anyway, my Mom said that she wants me to start taking a few college classes at the local college. Just to get things started.

It's fine because I've already got all the paperwork and tests done that I need to do early college, I was going to do this last year but things changed.

So tomorrow we're going to UAFS to sign up for summer classes. It's a little late so I won't be able to get into many good classes, but hey it's a start!

I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys this, it's been on my mind all day.

That sounds nice, just don't fail or it'll count against your classes passed.

I won't fail. Don't worry.

I just hope it's not to late to get at least one interesting class. Deadlines almost up for Summer 1 and classes start May 28.

Most classes will be full though. Dang.

Wait, you're taking summer classes? That sucks. Summer session can be either really easy or really hard. Hoping you get the former not the latter.

Because then you can get it over with and start your career sooner. :confused3

yeppers im doind that this summer too. its called dual classing. start ur college years while finishing high school. if all goes correctly i will have my masters by the time i turn 22. so that is why im doin it. also it is free :D gotta love being home schooled:banana:

Through my highschool and the community college in my town, we have a JumpStart program, which allows seniors to leave highschool a few periods early and take one or two classes each semester at the college.

I took advantage of this my senior year, and left high school after 6th period (instead of staying until 8th period), and took Sociology classes.

It was cool, but basically useless. I took sociology because I knew most liberal arts colleges have a social science requirement (psych, soc, poly sci, anthro, etc), and I wanted to get rid of that requirement. Unfortunately for me, Gettysburg still has that requirement, but that type of class HAS to be taken on the Gettysburg campus. So I have credit for sociology but it fulfills no requirement. which sucks majorly.

So, my advice, if you already know what college you want to go to (or have choices), look into their transfer-credit policy to make sure your class credits that you take transfer. :)

I'll most likely just stay at the local university. Or I might venture off to UCA.

The reason I want to do this is because I already know what major I want, and I already have a guarenteed job after graduation.

So I signed up for MATH 1403 (College Algebra) and Humanities Which are both requirements for the degree I want. My first class is May 28, and I'll have Algebra on Mondays and Hum. on Wednesdays.

Plus I volunteer Tues and Thurs which leaves only Friday and the weekend for my High School studies, but they're so easy it won't take me long to get through them all.

So now I have to run to the campus bookstore before work tomorrow and buy the books and materials I need.

I want to make sure I get everything in case it runs out.

My summer is starting to look a little dim for fun (other than heading up to Ottawa, but that might just end up being a quick little tour of the university and the Parliament building).
I was thinking of taking a language class at the community college because someone came in about a month ago and mentioned anybody could take basic courses.

this sounds cool great way to get a head start Jenny go for it what classes do you want to take

As for why youd want to take classes early-My high school pays for all of my college classes.
:teacher: But anyways...congrats! its an exciting process.

Humanities, and College Algebra 1. Just simple starter courses.

And tiff13, We have to pay for it ourselves but it's just the local university so it's only going to cost around 400-450 a class. It will get higher with the class difficulty, but these starter classes aren't that expensive.

Actually yes I do. My mom already works as a social worker, I've volunteered at that office for almost 3 years. The county supervisor already told me that if I have all of the requirements, then I have a guarenteed job.

And please don't be sarcastic, I did nothing to you.

I wasn't being sarcastic I was being serious. As a graduating senior I have watched friends who thought they had jobs not get them and not have a job upon graduation. Life changes.
