as for the Green Terror and the Blue Streak... your mascots must have been some pretty interesting characters...

How would you make a paper mache head for a Blue Streak or a Green Terror???

LOL!! Actually, someone in our PR dept. thought that our "mascot" should be a wolf since there's something in the official school motto (in Latin) about a wolf (lobo). So, we'd have an actual wolf (thankfully, in a cage) at our games.

For undergrad, I was a proud Banana Slug from U.C. Santa Cruz, although I am currently a Cardinal as I am a grad student at Stanford, although it confuses me. We are the color, not the bird. However, it is a giant redwood tree that dances at the games with the band. Very strange (even stranger than a banana slug!)

I love it. Everyone else gives their mascots, but folks from down here(or fans) have to give a war cry. I have seen a Roll Tide and a War Eagle in this thread so far.

As for me, I went to a small private college without a football team, I'm afraid.

Mobile College (now University) where we were the Rams.

Our mascot for football is a covered wagon with white horses.
Top Dog is our basketball mascot. I guess they couldn't figure out how to bring the horses and wagon inside for the basketball games.

Bekkiz.. when I first moved up to San Jose.. and heard that the Santa Cruz mascot was THE BANANA SLUG.. I nearly fell off my chair at the neighborhood Starbucks.. I was LOL so hard..
My goodness.. what WERE they smoking over in SC when they picked a BANANA SLUG???? LOL... There is something peculiar to be noted in the war cry... ''GO SLUGS!".....

but then I live in Hollister.. where the San Benito High School mascot is THE HAYBAYLER! Yee Haa!

I went to Western Kentuck University. We are the Hilltoppers and our mascot is Big Red. It's the stupidest mascot you've ever seen, he kind of looks like that big purple Ronald McDonald friend in the McDonald commercials but he's red. We wave red hand towels around at games. Ok, the mascot and all is stupid but the games can be a lot of fun.

WKU's Big Red is one of the best mascots around, I think he won an ESPN contest. And WKU's best b-ball player (David Boyden) went to my HS so they're on my good side.

alabamaalan....you're right! I was so carried away by the excitement to yell out a ROLL TIDE I forgot to add that the mascot is Big Al.....an elephant.

We also have the nickname of the Crimson Tide....I THINK once many years ago a reporter made a comment about the defensive line rolling over the other team like a "crimson tide"....and it stuck.
