After missing the signs near the Hess gas station for the Boardwalk and driving us the long way around past the mini-golf and the Swan and Dolphin, we finally pulled into the Boardwalk driveway. We were staying there for the first time, and I've decided that I'm in love with that place. I can't say enough about how friendly the cast members are there!

The location is great. We requested villas on the 3rd, 4th or 5th floor overlooking the quiet pool, and got exactly what we wanted! They gave us a two bedroom and an additional studio just a couple of doors away, overlooking the quiet pool and the Swan, the canal, and most importantly, boats! We were on the 3rd floor, waaaay at the end of the hall, but that was fine with us, because every step we took to our rooms just brought us that much closer to MGM. The path leading there was just down a nearby flight of steps, and a 10 minute walk later we were at MGM. Epcot was also a short walk away, and the buses to AK and MK were easy and convenient.

The 2 bedroom villa turned out to be a lifesaver. By the time we got into it, some of our group were realizing they were not simply exhausted, they were sick! One son-in-law draped himself and his really bad headache across the sofa, miserable until their studio became available so he could settle into bed. Our granddaughter, who's never had a fever in her life, began to fuss as her head and body began to warm up suspiciously. It was dawning on us that the colds that everyone had been getting over were back with a vengence.

All plans for the evening obviously went out the window as we separated into the categories of sickies and caregivers. Fortunately we had the kitchen and living room to work with - I don't know how we would have managed in regular hotel rooms. Well, we would have - you do what you have to do - but it wouldn't have been fun. As it was, we had a couple of Costco roasted chickens, and potatoes to work with. We turned out an easy but credible home-cooked meal and everyone went to bed early, hoping that a night's sleep would turn things around.

Unfortunately, in the morning things were worse, not better. On the plus side, my husband, daughters, and one son-in-law were fine. On the minus side, both grandchildren and our other son-in-law were down for the count. Not to mention the fact that our daughter (the mom) and her husband had been up most of the night coping with sick kids.

We decided to bag all plans for the day, and just stay in. It was going to be a day of running to the drug store for supplies and cooking. Actually, it was kind of nice to have a day with no expectations. It was gray and cloudy, and we did some laundry, put a brisket in to cook all day and hoped that we would be able to log some park time the next day.

Sorry to hear about your sickies. Hopefully things picked up in time for part 4. :goodvibes

On another note, this is why we encouraged (to no avail) the grandparents to come with us during our next trip. I think they'd be shocked to see it through DS (4) eyes. :earboy2:
