My DH's birthday is tomorrow and I wanted to get him an ice cream cake.
What is your favorite?

Dairy Queen for sure!

As much as I love Cold Stone, their ice cream cakes are just terrible. It has actual cake inside, which is cold and dry, and tastes like cardboard.

We had it for my B-day last year and no one liked it. :rotfl:

They're all sinful and disgustingly amazing.

I've tried the strawberry one and it was really good, and have also had the mint/chocolate one. I can't remember what they were actually called because they were at others' birthday get togethers.

How about getting him one that has his favorite ice cream in it?? ;)

Edited because I saw the other post but I remember that there wasn't cake inside one and there was in the strawberry one but it was still really good and everyone loved them... :confused3

Carvel cakes are also good!

The DQ here doesn't carry cakes.

I called and they said that I would have to give them 24 hour notice and would have to go down to their store to discuss with them how I would like to put the cake together, so I would just have to pick what they have. They said that they have 7-8 different types at one time.
Two other options for ice cream cakes are-Baskin and Robbins or the Safeway Ice Cream Cakes.

We just had the Caramel Nut Nirvana cake at a friend's birthday party, and it was pretty good! Not the most amazing dessert I've ever had, mind you, but it had a nice caramel/Snickers flavor, and the cake wasn't noticeably dry. I would have it again. :)

Yummmmm, I love ice cream cakes but I've never had one from Cold Stone Creamery. We used to get ours from Baskin Robbins. It's been awhile though. Let's see whose b-day is coming up........ ;)

You can ask for it to be all ice cream with no cake layer. :sunny:

(but it is more expensive that way)

We had one for Christmas and it was awesome. Red velvet cake with chocolate chip ice cream covered in a chocolate ganache. Sinful.

We had the other type of Christmas cake from Cold Stone this year. It had the candy cane ice cream with chocolate cake and was covered in chocolate ganache. Although it was very good, I would not pay that price for a cake again. I'll just get a big tub of ice cream next year! ;)

Baskin Robins has a good ice cream cake, and the cake part is usually good. Carvel is always a safe back up too! Good luck, and have fun! :)

I got my dh a cookie-dough icecream cake from Cold Stone last year... It was SOOOOOOOO good... :lovestruc

That's the one my family got me for my birthday. It was SOOOOOO good.

Cold stone has my two favorites: Snickers and one that I can't remember the name. It has raspberries in it with a white frosting, very yummy!

Can't decide between these two: Coffee House Crunch or Mmmmint Chip!

If you have a Milwaukee Frozen Custard store near, they make great cakes (resonably priced too)

DD11 loves "chocolate chip cookie dough".

I have a coupon around here somewhere, for $5.00 of any one of their cakes. If you lived near me...I'd give it to you. :)

DD had one for her birthday party last year, cookies & cream ice cream, chocolate cake, and the whipped icing. Everyone loved it & not a bit went to waste!

mmmmm...Carvellllll...mmmmmm <get's homer simpson dream look on face>

I think Carvel is an eastern thing, as I haven't seen any since I headed west 11 years ago; but boy do I miss that chocolate crunchy center...I would always save it until the end so I could just eat the crunch by itself with a teeny bit of chocolate ice cream on the bottom and a teeny bit of vanilla on the top...mmmm

We don't have Friendly's out here either. You haven't lived until you have had a fribble.
