We are going home to SSR from Jan 28th to Feb 4th. Does anyone know what to expect of the weather?

I've gone to weather.com to check averages, but need to know more info.

Will it be warm enough to get in the pool? Will it be cool enough to wear pants? Will we sweat? Is it sticky? How are the bugs?

One of our trips to WDW was in late December, and it was a fluke... never got above 30 the whole time. Luckily we forgot to leave our coats at home.

Any help would be great! Thanks...

We were there that week last year, and I loved the weather. It was warm during the day, in the 70s, but not too hot. The kids went swimming, but I'm one of those that need it really hot before I'll go in. The evenings were cool, we wore pants and sweatshirts. It was a great time to go; in fact, we're going again the first week of February. The crowds were low and the weather comfortable.

Have a great trip!

That is great news, thanks for the replies!

We've tried going in Sept/Oct, May, April, etc... it's always really hot. I was hoping this time around would be cooler, but not too cold.

Sounds like we picked a good time to visit.

You too have a great trip!

We went last year at the same time (end of January). It was pretty cold, especially in the evening. Swimming was difficult because of pool temps and cold air. It really didn't feel like a great holiday because it was rather cold.

One to two of the days were little warmer but the other 5 were pretty cool. Be prepared with warmer clothing.

We're going same time because my son can't handle hot weather on his sensitive skin, but I'd much prefer a warmer time of year.

Yeah, but at least it wont be hot.
I have a bun in the oven this visit and I could really do without the heat.

It's amazing to hear someone from Canada talk about it being cold in FL!
:o) Thanks for sharing your story.

I'm sure I would preferr the warmer temps, at least warm enough to get in the water.

How were the crowds last year?

We'll be bringing my parents for the first time. I'm excited for them to see everything.

It is also our first visit to SSR. We just bought back in October. We used to stay at Port Orleans - Riverside. I hear the buses at SSR are much more frequent or not as crowded. That'll be nice!

We went TWO years ago and it was cold the whole time we were there. I mean COLD. No warmer than high 40s in the day and down into 30s at night. Wouldn't have been too bad, except they also had pretty brisk winds blowing which made it feel really cold.

Of course the day we left it popped back up into the 60s. Bottom line is: be prepared for anything!

depends on pool temps really...

do you live north of Mason-Dixon line?;) If so, you'll probably swim.

i like this site for annual temp info

www.wunderground.com

we went 2/1/06 - 2/7/06 and it was colder than usual, we did get two days in the low 70's and the kiddos being hearty Mainers wanted to swim, but not for me thanks.

2-years prior however it was beautiful and we swam constantly, so you never know, just realize it can get cold that time of year...BTW 55 in FL is nothing at all like 55 in Maine, feels much colder:confused:

We go every January for at least 2 weeks, and the weather is totally unpredictable from year to year. We've had times when it was short sleeves all the way, and other times when it was layers, plus polarteks, plus gloves, plus hats and scarves!
Before we go, I look at the accuweather site to get a 15-day guideline so I get an idea of what to pack, and if we're going for longer, I keep my fingers crossed!;)
To keep the luggage at a sane level, I plan on doing laundry once or twice during the trip.

We live in Texas, and have about the same climate as FL so I suppose it will be fine. It's in the 60's here today, but the humidity is so high it makes it feel cooler.

I will be sure to watch the weather while packing. I don't mind the cool weather, just really don't want to sweat like a pig!

My mom was there two years ago in Jan, and the CM's were pouring warm water on the Boardwalk...it was iced over!!!

I guess it really depends.

We are hoping for some really cold weather...which, of course means it will be warm!!;)

I've been to WDW during the month of Feb twice. Once, first week was warm (70's and 80's) & I was wearing shorts. In 2005, Feb 10-14 was very cold. It never made it out of the upper 40's/low 50's the 4 days we were there. I did read upon arrival home, that it warmed up to the upper 60's the very next day. I think it's a toss-up this time of the year.

We've gone in Jan/early Feb. several times now with another trip this upcoming year at the end of Jan to first week in Feb. My best tip is too pack clothes for ALL kinds of weather!!!! We generally have had nice weather to walk around the parks. In fact quite a few times we have left in snow and the warm FL sun felt so great!

Last year we went the second week in Jan. and lucked out with temps in the high 70's everyday with no rain all week. We swam and wore our summer clothes and did not even touch the warmer clothes I had brought. :) Two weeks later friends of ours went down and it was much colder and rainy. They hardly wore any summer type clothing and did not go swimming. Be prepared for any type of weather and you'll be fine! :)

The parks are great which is why we keep going back at this time of year!! You'll enjoy it a bunch. :)

Check out accuweather, the give a longer forcast than weather.com and I found out it was pretty accurate when we went for Thanksgiving.

Packing I would bring things you could layer and stuffing some hats and gloves in your suitcase isn't a bad idea. I'll be packing the long underwear next year if the forcast warrants it(very light weight and it wicks moisture, DH thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.) Not a bad idea for night time at the parks.

I watch the Daytona 500(mid Feb) every year. Sometimes the weather is great(short sleaves) others people are in parkas.

Okay... I will pack long underwear and short sleeves.

This will be our first time with a washer and drier in the room, so we plan on only taking about 3 days worth of clothes. Leave more room to bring home disney stuff!

I hope it's on the warner side. The cool weather just makes me want to sleep. :surfweb:
