Coke on the cruise

I've figured out the Freestyle machine. Let it run for a few seconds before you put your cup under the dispenser. That should flush out all of the previous flavors from the nozzle.

I just flush with water first.

I wanted to bring this thread back to life to see if anyone on a recent cruise noticed the Coke tasting odd. I will admit I am a Coke snob. We were on the Fantsay in January and I noticed it in the MDRs and on the pool deck. I thought the Coke was terrible. My kids mentioned the Sprite was bad as well. We are planning to carry on a case or two of Cokes for our next cruise.

I have been on 24 DCL cruises and have NEVER had a great diet coke on board. I just don't think they have the right mixture set. Most of the time it is FINE, but at least once a cruise I cannot find a FINE do to carbonation or other factor(s). Another factor could be the cleaning of the lines, they need to be cleaned periodically and if not can pass off a bad or bitter taste. I have even had them replace my Diet Coke in the MDR with tea, probably only twice lol.

The lines cannot have other flavors in the unless an employee put the wrong flavor, which I would think chances are slim. They don't have the machines that give you multiple flavors and hope they don't go to them. Great idea, but residue from the previous flavors just make the diet coke experience bad.

Solution is to buy the cans from the bar or concessions or bring your own. I am considering next cruise for my drinks outside the MDR.

Makes me happy I don't drink the stuff reading these comments. Coffee or water is it for me (on rare occasions a lemonade).

Coke Zero was added to the soda stations Magic after the dry dock in 2013. When I was on the Fantasy in July 2014, coke Zero was not at the soda station yet. Can anyone tell me if the Fantasy now has Coke Zero at the stations?

Has anyone noticed a strange almost orangey flavor to the cokes (& even water) from the fountain machines? I'll admit that Dr Pepper is my drink of choice, but I do drink Coke too so I know how it should taste. Everyone in our travel party noticed this flavor. I guess it's good because it kept me from drinking as many cokes as I would have normally! ;)
Yes, we noticed this on the Fantasy just a few weeks ago. Very strange.

Fantasy in Jan and noticed the weird taste of coke and sprite from the machines on deck

Doesn't Disney only have to pay about 5 cents for each glass of Coke?

its our understanding that Coke in (at least the theme parks) cost Disney $0.00. As it's a part of Coke & Disney's agreement ...Coke does not charge Disney for the product as they value the advertising impressions more
could be mistaken...but recall reading that someone some time ago

Just got off the Fantasy 2 weeks ago. I kept saying to my husband the Diet Coke tasted funny to me (in the MDRs and machines). He drank ice tea and did not notice any funny taste.

I can assure you that Disney has to pay for their Coke. Its one of Coke's 3 biggest accounts- Disney, McDonalds and Walmart. Also, Coke Life is hard enough to find in the stores, its not gonna be on the cruise ships yet. I wish they would get Freestyle machines. Hopefully that will magically happen before our first cruise next year!
