Hi Campers,

Renting from Budget, and I see on their website the following message:

"Florida Turnpike will no longer accept cash payments. The state has removed all toll takers and you can only pay using Budget e-Toll express or by using a SunPass toll transponder."

Is this true? If I'm traveling from MCO to WDW property, will I only be able to use the transponder to pay...or, is this statement stretching the truth or a baldfaced lie, and I can still use my coins to pay (every few miles at that;) )? Any info would be mucho appreciated!:thumbsup2

Pretty much a bald face lie. I drive from Sanford over to WDW a lot. I have driven from MCO to WDW...there are plenty of toll takers in that area. It's only when you get much further south that you run into the no-toll taker system. Did that when driving to the Keys last spring..it is somewhat disconcerting!!
But, it's just not an issue in the Orlando area. Take your dollar bills and quarters...you'll be fine.

Hmm....thought so. Wish these car rental firms were a tiny bit more reputable. Thanks for the quick reply!

Note that Budget says
Florida Turnpike will no longer accept cash payments.
Fortunately you do not get on the Florida Turnpike when going from MCO to WDW.

The car rental market with some trepidation, and its stunts like this that further lead me to this well worn phrase..let the buyer beware!;)
