Coffeemakers at Values

We are happy with the price of the Value hotel and its amenities.

My husband enjoys a short morning walk to get his coffee in the refillable mug.

There are lots of other ways the Mods are different than the values. A coffeemaker is really quite a small thing and is pretty standard in all hotels and resorts that cost upwards of $100 a night. I'll deal with it, I booked it, but really.

The values used to be more different from the moderates than they are now. I would rather they keep them cheaper and not continue to add amenities to them. I'd rather they go back in price to under $100 a night, which was the standard for a long time. My fear is if Disney keeps plusing the values, they will keep increasing the price until they are not much of a value.

Very few budget motels (Motel 6, Knight's Inn, Red Roof Inn, etc.) offer in-room coffee makers. The cost of supplies (filters, cups, sugar & cream, single-serving packages of the coffee itself, etc.) as well as maintenance of the coffee maker (cleaning, repair & replacement) can easily add up to a few bucks per day and when you're operating on tight margins (the average nightly room rate of budget properties is in the $60 range), that's a huge expense.

Ha, yeah sorry about that, when I wrote budget hotels I was thinking of more places like Hampton Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, etc. places you can stay at for $100 or so a night. I wasn't really thinking super budget I guess, just budget in correlation to Disney! Just suprised Disney didn't have coffee makers in all their rooms (I've never stayed at a value resort so I didn't know), but I've never been to a hotel without a coffee maker (but I guess I have never actually been to a budget hotel) so I maybe just used the wrong terminology for what I was actually referring to. Sorry!

But yeah I guess it is a way to save money and still offer coffee (in the quick service location), most people would probably be fine with that or just bring their own coffee maker if they wanted to have coffee in their rooms.

Honestly I just don't like Disney coffee. Never did and I am not even picky about coffee (never once had Starbucks.). I bring my own little coffee maker and caramel creamer cups even when at a moderate if I have a bit of extra suitcase room.

I strongly disagree. Disney has added very few amenities to the values since they began the concept -- and what has been added was done so out of necessity (e.g. wifi). The moderates, in contrast, have seen a plethora of upgrades.

The values are by far the best deal at Disney, and seemingly have experienced the slowest growth in average room rates over the past 20 years (going rate, not rack). If you wait for a promotion, you can book a room for $700/wk during the summer -- that's less than half the moderates. Even as recently as the late 2000s, the moderates generally ran $30/night (or less) above the values. No more.

Room rates will go up as demand increases and supply remains stagnant but right now Disney's probably pushing the upper limits of what it can get for the values. Remember, it was just 10 years ago the All Stars were dumped on Priceline for $25/night.

Hampton Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, etc. are moderate hotels and unsurprisingly, Disney's moderate hotels are comparable in amenities.

The value resorts ARE budget hotels; you can't compare hotels by price as you a pay a premium for the Disney experience. The Waldorf Astoria and Four Seasons are far more luxurious than any deluxe Disney property, but sell for far less since they lack the "Disney magic" fanatics look for.

We also travel with a small water kettle. I'm a tea drinker so I need it whether or not there is a coffee pot. DP is a coffee drinker and he likes it strong, so we take Starbucks packets for him.... he thinks they are better than the the coffee you can brew in the mini pots.

This is the kettle we have, it's about $25 and is small enough to pack.

The family suite at All-Star Music has coffee makers and microwaves. At least it did last time we were there.

I get up shave brush teeth and start with coffee so my one cup comes with me ever where we go . Pop is great for us I do see it should not be a biggy for Disney to put them in all rooms but having a one cup maker helps me

I think the removing of the coffee makers maybe wouldn't annoy me so much if there were more refillable mug stations per resort. For example, I'm staying at Pop Century - have a refill station in each decade not just main hall. Even if they only put coffee out in the mornings and pulled it the rest of the day it would awesome.

I use an electric kettle at home with a Melita pour over filter to make coffee a cup at a time - will most likely bring that and a small kettle with me (although I like the look of this Black and Decker https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005MF9C/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER it may be easier to lug and I can still make tea with it.

That Black & Decker one is what I bring! It fits easily into my luggage.

That's my thought, too, happymommy. I'm taking train down so I am not too worried about weight but it being more compact is a plus for sure!!

Disney has added very few amenities to the values since they began the concept

But that is changing.

It was generally thought the Values would never have fridges-that "glass ceiling" was broken several years ago.

The Values are now in the process of removing the wall-mounted Hair Dryers and replacing them with full-size Dryers.

All-Star Sports now has Pool Towels.

All-Star Sports has 24/7 access to its Beverage Island.

The All-Star Arcades are open 24/7.

Ping Pong tables,etc. have been added to the Pool areas at the Values.

I would not be surprised at all to see Coffeemakers be the next "addition" to the Values.

First time I stayed at the Grand Floridian, our room had neither a fridge nor a coffee maker. We ordered room service coffee every morning (and it was a treat - they made up the table, not desk, table, with a tablecloth, set up the coffee and ice water, then the room service attendant poured me a cup and handed it to me in bed with the newspaper, calling me by name). My husband of course was the one opening the door and such - and I told him that was $15 well spent every day! Ahhhhh. We did ask for a fridge and they brought one, beat up and such but it worked fine for a few little things.

I do think Pop will get coffee makers, from the photos of the new renovations.

When we walked in the room and saw the lack of a coffee maker I went to the front desk and explained my shock. They sent one up with plenty of coffee. So just ask the front desk and they will provide one.

Did you stay in a Suite or in The Little Mermaid(Standard Room)?

If you stayed in a Suite,the Coffeemaker should have been in the Suite.

If you stayed in The Little Mermaid they gave you a Coffeemaker as a courtesy and not every Guest staying in The Little Mermaid should expect to get a Coffeemaker.

The reason they provided you with a Coffeemaker is because they "stock" them for the Suites and had one available.

This is not the case with the other Values(Pop Century,the All-Star Resort).
(The exception at the All-Stars would be Music which has some Suites so that would be the same situation as AoA)

They(POP,Sports,Movies) do not have ANY Coffeemakers available even if they wanted to give one to a Guest as a special courtesy.

For anyone driving in or if you're flying in and don't want to bother packing a coffeemaker, there's a walgreens in crossroads plaza just outside disney springs - they sell the little cheapo 4 cup traditional Mr Coffee makers. Probably around $10-15 tops and you can get the filters and coffee right there too. If you're staying a week or more, well worth it vs running back and forth to the food court and dealing with the crowds every morning - or for a great pick me up back in the room before heading back out to the parks at night. We bought one during our very first value resort stay 12-15 years ago and have used the heck out of it every time we go- the little guy still works. We bring him with us every year.
