Been an DL for 2 days and having a great time! BUT is there anywhere to get a good cup of coffee?!? Desperatly need good coffee!!

Unfortunately, the short answer is "no". :sad2: However we found LaBrea Bakery brews with Starbucks brand coffee so we got some there. (In DTD).

I'm just going to throw this out. Is Starbucks good coffee? It is not made from good beans. No kidding. It is made from below average coffee beans and sticks and rocks. No kidding, this is 100% true.

Marketing fools people and it is probably true that Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds are serving better coffee. Because it's not hard to serve better coffee than Starbucks.

Haagen Dazs in DtD serves Peet's coffee. Some people have reported liking whatever it is Compass Books brews.

I like Peets even better. Have to look into that.

Well, I'm not going to argue that Starbucks is the best but it isn't awful either. Like I said, I think Peets is better. However, almost anything is better than DLR coffee. That is just so horrible I don't know how they do it. When we saw LaBrea served Starbucks we at least new it wouldn't taste terrible like the DLR coffee.

Depends on what you are comparing it to. If you compare it to the coffee inside DL then the answer is absolutely yes. It is excellent coffee. If you are comparing it to coffee outside DL then the answer is it is average quality.

If you are looking for real Starbucks, you'll have to put on your "Star-dar" and head outside the resort.

Seriously, Disney needs to do something about their lack of good coffee. My fam brings the Starbucks instant with us and we make it in our hotel room. It's not *quite* the same, but it will do in a pinch.

I'm not a coffee drinker but my mother is (she's having one now). We were at the park yesterday and I was talking to some kids in the gift / coffee store across from the Blue Ribbon Bakery. They said that they offer a secret Disney blend that isn't on the menu. It has to be requested. They said it wasn't bad.

But, yes, Disney really needs to step it up on their coffee. Personally, I bring my own tea and, usually, honey.

Cheers,

Rob

I believe the "secret Disney" blend is what they always serve. When we were at Market House last summer we asked about what coffee it was because we heard that they were no longer using Nescafe. We were told it was a special "Disney" blend. So we tried it and it tasted like the same swill they always serve. I think it is very weak coffee to begin with, and then water it down too much. We were not impressed with the Disney blend. :sad2:

I only put that while some people find Starbucks to be good, it is actually made from terrible coffee that they sell with words like premium and gourmet.
Base on this a good bet is that DLR uses better coffee than SB serves. There is a lot of room to move upward from starbucks but less to go down.

We are driving to Disney and considering bringing a small coffee pot, coffee, and disposable coffee cups so we don't have to waste time searching for good coffee. I am really surprised the hotels on-site don't list coffee pots as one of the ammenities! Most hotels we have stayed at usually at least have coffee pots in the rooms.

It is not so much the brand of coffee as it is the water they are brewing it with. The tap wter just tastes icky, therefore the coffee is going ot taste icky too. I started using our bottle water to brew our hotel room coffee with and it tasted a lot better! Also, fwiw the blend that labrea bakery uses still isn't great, but it is better than most. I ordered a mocha and it did not taste like a starbucks mocha...but was better than plain coffee.

I for one am a fan of the Starbucks coffee and my DH drives across the highway every morning to get me my "fix". Guess he has figured out by now what happens to Mommy if she doesnt have coffee in the morning :thumbsup2

Although a bit pricey, that "Via" stuff from starbucks isn't half bad either. Best part is it's convienience , and if you like Iced coffee, it can desolve in cold water. :surfweb:

So I guess a big question is to you is a good cup of coffee a latte or the like or are you just talking about standard brewed coffee? I bring my own french press and ground beans...... add hot water and whala!! Just the way I like it!
As far as lattes ect, There is a Starbucks if you leave the bus shuttle area go left on Harbor, just over the overpass on the right. McDonalds is right across from the shuttle area they also have Lattes ect. Being a northwest native I won't get into the Starbucks debate......I will say however that they have gone waaayy downhill in service, so sad
Good Luck! From one of many coffee snobs! :rotfl:

I agree, this "Disney blend" is lacking some serious coffee.

I don't mind having like a latte or a mocha or some other "disguised" coffee, but for the morning, as a coffee snob I bring my own to be brewed at the hotel.

Disneyland's themepark product is second to none. On the other hand Disneyland's food and beverage products are sorely lacking. I'm not sure how you could possibly insinuate that Disneyland coffee was better than Starbucks. I don't think many here would agree with that statement. They were using Nescrap until recently.
