we're staying at the Hyatt and there is a Starbucks in the lobby, but where else in the Disneyland Resort area can you get a good cup of coffee? I'm a barista and I can't handle terrible coffee...

Everything served in the parks is Nesca-crap. The best coffee I have had in DLR is at Storyteller's Cafe at a character breakfast. I understand it's Nescafe, too, but one of their nicer blends (???)

From what I have read here and on other fan sites, Compass Books & Gifts in DTD near the DLH has good, strong coffee, and I have heard that it is a couple different brands but have never been able to confirm for myself which it is. (Peets or Cafe du Monde).

Personally, I prefer to bring my own beans and grinder and creamer from home.

I too, am a coffee conneseuer (sp?). That said, I kinda the crap coffee they have in the parks. I suppose because it's nostalgic and reminds me of Disneyland.

I agree though, it's pretty bad. But in a way, that's part of its charm.

Market House on Main Street has several "flavors" of coffee and if you save your receipt you can get a free refill. I don't like the coffee at DL and would rather do without in that case and just have my coffee before getting to DLR. My DH must have some by afternoon so he gets it at Market House.

DH is a big coffee nut. Whenever we stayed at the Hyatt, he loved the Starbucks in the lobby, which gave him his big morning boost. In the afternoon at the park, he'd go to the Market House on Main St. I think he found that coffee the most tolerable.

The bookstore in DTD has good coffee. I think there is a Starbucks in the gas station up the road on Ball.

La Brea Bakery at DTD and there cart use Starbucks. Not my fav, but waaaaayyyyy better then that Nesca stuff :scared:

I agree! (I'm also trained as a barista, but haven't actully done much baristing:) ) Also..isn't there a kiosk in DTD from La Brea? And someone who brews Starbucks at a kiosk? A little fuzzy..just remember seeing the signage.

Bleh...we stayed at DLH and I was hoping Compass Books had great coffee. I cannot speak for their drip, but the espresso was horrible. There was an elderly lady making it and I had to correct her not to steam the milk on my iced drink. I couldnt even finish it. Same goes for the little place in DCA right by Ariels Grotto....although this was a bit better.

See this thread about other coffee places as I too was in search of the best. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1957929

Best I found was on Main Street. For the life of me I can't recall what the name of the place was. I know as you were walking towards the castle it was on the left hand side, thats all I remember. Blue Ribbon Bakery maybe?

LOL I just went to the starbucks next to the gas station, DH went into the gas sattion for his, we obviously have different taste huh? lol
Although if there wasnt a starbucks close it wouldnt have been the end of the world, but certainly was nice!

OP--We are staying at the Hyatt too for the first time. Have you stayed there before? Did you like it if you did?

Hope you find good coffee. I think that they offer coffee makers in the rooms too and you could bring your own. I drink tea and plan to bring my own!

Have fun!

Mmmmmm I love the iced coffee at DL! It is one of the things I look most forward too. I like the coffee at the Main St. bakery and the little coffee stand that is in the center (by the statue of Walt and Mickey)

I love how no matter where I'm going, I always do research to find where the best coffee is!

I too am a barista, and it bugs the crap out of me when people say that all coffee is the same...

ummm no! Nescafe is water with a few drops of essential coffee oils!

Bleh!

We just got back, my husband is a barista and he brought his own coffee beans and grinder. The DL hotel gave us a coffee maker, but no filters.., because they use premade coffee/filter packets for their coffee makers. They were nice enough to find us a couple of oversized filters that worked.

Compass books.., sorry to say but their coffee was horrid. The free coffee in the DL hotel lobby was much better. My hubby wanted a quad shot with cinnamon.., not a hard order.., it was nasty. Their quad shot was more like a double shot and the cinnamon was gross. I got a chai and it was Ok, but not great. My daughter liked her hot chocolate well enough.

I will say that most of the DL restaurants, like the carnation cafe, they had decent coffee if you just ordered the regular coffee.., the esspresso drinks were not good at all.

We've never been to California!! I'm hoping the Hyatt is nice, it has lots of good reviews on Trip Adviser. com and we got a really good deal.

I think I might just have to bring my own beans and use the in room coffee maker, probably cheaper too. I've heard there is a Target right across the street and I can pick up some half & half.

Even though I'm a barista, I'm not a foo-foo coffee drinker, just straight up, good and strong, usually an Americano if I can get it. Starbucks will do in a pinch, although I agree with previous posters, they burn their beans. The shop I work at has a roasting company in the same building and we have fresh roasted coffee every week. Hard to beat!

I don't like Starbucks either..

There might be a Starbucks in that Target

I'm confused. Do you want Starbucks, or do you want good coffee? :rotfl2:

:rotfl:
I'm right there with you! I will not tolerate weak coffee and sometimes Starbucks is the lesser of the evils...:crazy2:
