I just started weight watchers last week and am feeling good about how I am doing. However, I am having a huge problem with the start of my day. Here is the problem - I love mochas, iced coffees, lattes, etc.. I dream about them and have a horrible time starting my day without one. I was used to having a specialty coffee drink about once or twice a week. I usually go to a coffee shop but am willing to make something at home with substitutions if I could find some recipes. I am hoping someone here has some ideas of what I could drink once and awhile that would not kill my points for the day.

Thanks in advance for any help you could give!

DaVinci has a spiced chai concentrate..a little in a mug, some hot water, some half and half or cream..it really is very good..I like it hot, DD prefers it cold...the only calories and carbs are in the cream.

My DH uses a version of Starbucks Frappuccino from Top Secrets Recipes (www.topsecretrecipes.com)

DH has "perfected" it and made it WW friendly BUT he is out of town this week and I truly don't know his method. Will be happy to post on recipe link when he gets home - until then you might try going to site and check it out.

Combine all ingredients in a pitcher or covered container. Stir or shake - serve hot or cold. He made one day and we had some next day and it was still tasty.

1/2 cup expresso
2 1/2 cups lowfat milk (2%) (possibly used vanilla soy milk)
1/4 cup granulated sugar( used Splenda)
1 Tbls dry pectin (used gelatin)

A tall non fat Starbucks latte is only 2 points!!! It took me a while to adjust to the taste, but now I hardly notice the difference.

I am so excited that some sort of specialty coffee might again fit into my day!

<b>msteddom</b> - Thanks for the heads up on the non fat Starbucks. I was so surprised to see it was only 2 points. Infact, I might get one today! :D

<b>AlreadyexcitedGrammy</b> - I love the recipe. When your husband gets home I would love to hear what he does exactly. I would like to be able to make something like that at home or work. :D

<b>amid chaos</b> - I have not tried any chai before but this may be a good time to try something new. :D

Thanks again everyone. I really want to reach my goal and the coffees are a huge weakness of mine. Finding these suggestions will help me keep on track!

Jen, here's a nice recipe I just recently tried and loved! And it's WW's own!

Cappuccino Cooler

1 cup low-fat milk (I use skim)
1 cup sugar free vanilla nonfat frozen yogurt (Edy's is good)
1/2 cup brewed espresso, cooled to room temperature
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
About 6 ice cubes

In a blender, combine all of the ingredients; puree until smooth. Pour into a tall, chilled glass; sprinkle with additional cinnamon, if you like.

Makes 2 servings, 3 Points each.

I'm not usually on the WISH board, but sometimes I lurk because I'm trying to lose weight too. I've been having a tough time since I left WW. Maybe I should come aboard here, you all seem very supportive to each other.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the drink!

Debbie

Wow Debbie that sound really good!!! Especially this time of year! Thanks!

If you like the Iced Coffee Drinks, the new Nescafe Ice Java Syrup is very good. The syrups have per serving 80 calories and no fat or fiber. You choose what type of milk you want to use so you can keep the fat and calories lower with Skim Milk. They come in three flavors: Coffee Cooler, Frenc Vanilla and Chocolate Mocha (my favorite) If you try the Ice Java use the blender instructions, it's REALLY good.

I like the Devinely Mocha Nescafe Frothe hot coffee beverage too. That's 2 points per cup.

I love the French Vanilla Ice Java!!!! I use 1% milk, so the points are a little high, but for a once in a while treat it tastes so good!!!!

Hello everyone! I just bought and tried the Iced Java Syrup and it was really worth it. I did make it with 1% milk but I think skim milk would be fine in this. I whipped it up in the blender tonight after my long walk and it was a wonderful reward for saving a couple of points and going on my walk!

Thanks to everyone for all of the ideas. It is always the little things that are hard to give up and now I feel like I have some options that will help me survive this diet. I really needed to have options for my weakness of sweet drinks! Thanks again for all of the support! :Pinkbounc

I love flavored coffes also! Something that has helped me is adding a packet of hot cocoa mix to my coffee at home or at work. Swiss Miss has a Diet with Calcium "flavor" (sweetened with Splenda) that when added to coffee is pretty good and it is only 25 calories and 0g fat. Because it is so low in calories I have already used 2 packets, which is still only 50 calories, when I was really having a "sweet craving", and then it is really good.

AlreadyexcitedGrammy, I would love to know what your husband does to the Starbucks recipe also.
