p.s. -- thank you Craig for the nice thing you wrote on another thread -- as it turns out, my connectivity problems were not computer-related -- Instead my phone line had broken in half inside the rubber coating. It finally dawned on us when we could only dial out on our land-line intermittently (and only when the wind wasn't blowing -- which isn't often)

Hey! I'm a redneck, gots me two livin' relatives named after confederate generals, mah idea of fine entertainment is watchin' the bug-zapper and puttin away a six-pack, and I live at the end of a dirt road, What did yew expect, Mr. Latte-drinkin, Loafer-wearin, City-feller?!?!

Actually, it's not really dial-up -- it is DSL -- uses the same line as my phone...

...but I hafta admit, it WAS dial-up not all that long ago And that kid in the video was me last week... LOL!

We had similar issues with our DSL. We have a 1974 brick ranch house. Our neighborhood is equally as old. Not only did we have a bad phone line, we also had our home phone number set up in 8 area phone signal distribution spots in our neighborhood! So, with our phone signal being split so many potential ways, it really did drag down our DSL speed.

Once we got all of that cleared up, it's been great.

I play an online game that is a huge bandwidth hog. Normally while I play I'm online surfing as well (DIS, forums for my game, strats for my game, ebay, Youtube, you name it) and often multiple websites at the same time. A lot of the time I also tend to be downloading music.

So yeah, DSL is too slow for me

My internet, cable, and phone are all together as well with Brighthouse, and we pretty much only drop service when the power goes out LOL
