Coffee pots in a stateroom?

It has been a while since I’ve cruised with Disney. Do they have a coffeemaker in each stateroom? I know I can call room service but it would be convenient if I can just make myself a pot of coffee first thing in the morning while I get ready.

People have reported getting a carafe of coffee the night before and it was still hot in the morning, if you need something as soon as you're awake. Other than that, room service, or a trip to the drink station is the only way.

There is also a door hanger tag in the desk drawer that you can order room service the night before and have it delivered at a certain time.

If you’re picky about your coffee, you can bring your own ground coffee and a French press. Then order “tea” from room service and you will receive a carafe of hot water (it will stay hot overnight if you prefer to order it the night before). Use that in your French press to make your own coffee. My mother is a coffee snob and doesn’t like what is offered onboard.

When we did a B2B Med./WBTA, knowing the top deck coffee was bad (except for Cove Café), we brought Starbucks Via packets. I would get up and get hot water, bring it back and make a decent cup of coffee...not great, but decent.

No coffeemakers in staterooms. Probably a disaster if they did.

I agree. Outlets and shelf/counter-space are precious enough in the staterooms as it is, without a coffeemaker taking up more space. Plus, I can only imagine how many coffeemakers would be left "on" when people leave their staterooms for the day. So, a waste of electricity. Plus, you know people would leave pots empty on the heating plate, ruining the pots. Plus, liquids near a live outlet on a vessel that could tilt at any given moment. Plus, one more thing for the stateroom attendants to "turn over" when they are already squeezed for time as it is. Plus...etc.

Not to mention all of the other uses that people use coffeemakers for in hotel rooms.

I like the idea of room service first thing in the morning with a pot of coffee. How much of a tip would be appropriate for just coffee?

I give a minimum of $2 anytime I order room service. Most of our room service orders are small, one AHOD platter or a couple Mickey bars. I figure it doesn't make a lot of difference in the effort to deliver if I am ordering a plate of chicken tenders or just one Mickey bar so I should tip based on the service not the amount of food. But in the rare cases when we order multiple plates of food, I'll tip more.

FYI: the room service person will need come into the cabin to give you your order. They usually put the food/coffee on the small table in front of the couch. Be sure to have the table cleared off and a clear path (no shoes or bags) on the floor

lots of other lines do have a Keurig type maker in the rooms so I wouldn't get too twisted about the safety concern - use ours every day on Viking.

and at least at one time some lines had small drip makers like you see in hotels ... but yes, I did see a recent article that mentioned just how dirty the pots could be .....

The difference is a Keurig-type cuts off once it's finished. A drip coffee pot does not.

We’re taking the family on our 1st DCL cruise on Fanatasy in a few weeks. I am picky about coffee but not really a coffee snob (prefer French press but hate cleaning it so usually start the day w/a dark roast k-cup). How bad is the DCL room service coffee? If ordered the night before do the carafes keep it fresh as well as hot?

I think it’s awful. But the only coffee I find drinkable is the upcharge stuff from cove cafe because it’s at least proper drip coffee (though I pretty much stick to cold brew and espresso). The room service coffee is somehow worse than instant coffee.

To be honest the coffee available on the pool deck is Brown Swill. We bring the Starbucks Via freeze dried to kick start the engines 1st thing in the morning. The cove cafe is our little indulgence to get decent coffee

Wow, that IS pretty bad! I’ll definitely be spending some of our onboard credit from TA at the Cove Cafe!

Good idea, I’ve never tried the Via packets but will get some & order room service tea/hot water for my morning fix!

Yep--the drink station coffee went right in the garbage for me. The carafe from room service was better. Cove cafe was quite good. Bringing the Via packets is probably a great idea.
