Does anyone know if the coffee makers in the rooms at OKW are the regular type or have they changed to kuerig style? Thanks!

DVC villas all have basket style coffee makers. They take flat bottom filters.

So if you find mold, give it a quick wash and use it.

Mold? I've never heard about that. But it makes me wonder how often (if ever) housekeeping cleans out the coffee pots with white vinegar. Maybe bringing some white vinegar would be a good idea. The thought of drinking moldy coffee-Yech!

The don't clean with vinegar, they may run the pot through the dishwasher in the larger units.

So run some water through the coffee maker and let the hot water clean it out.

Or could bring a coffee pot cleaner with you. Or have your grocery delivery pick one up and add to your delivery. All the grocery stores, Walmart, and Target carry something like that. I wouldn't be surprised that you could run a full pot of water with a tablespoon of vinegar and clean it that way.

That's different from any experience I've had with coffee pots. The machine only runs hot water and usually dries out quickly after use. Where I've seen mold is in the pot itself if any leftover coffee remains. We ran into that at Universal and I admit I've come home to that experience after vacation. Also if the coffee grounds are not cleaned up you can get mold there but then you just have to wash the basket.

I've only know vinegar for descaling a machine - not necessarily for cleaning.

The instructions for our machine, a Mr Coffee, says to run white vinegar through every 45 days. We even have a cleaning cycle-the pot runs half through, then stops for 1/2 hour, then the other half runs through. But I'd much rather be able to get away with water and just a tablespoon of vinegar.

And I believe that is descaling as most water will leave deposits over time which in a coffee maker means it will plug up and not work as well, or at all if it's long enough.

OK, then my apologizes for calling it the wrong thing. Somehow, when Mr Coffee calls it the clean cycle, I was mistaken in not knowing it was really the descaling cycle.
