Codes?

I am new to this whole thing (1st trip to WDW) and concerned about my budget. I keep reading about codes and am wondering if someone could please explain what they are and how they work?

Special discounts are given at certain times of year to certain groups. When you call you ask by the code letters or by the group name.
Discounts are given to the following groups - Annual Passholders, Disney Visa Cardmembers, Fla Res. etc.

You might want to check out mousesavers.com. She keeps a pretty accurate list of discounts and their codes.

There are also codes for general public use but it is not guaranteed that they come out. Usually it's about 2-3 months before your travel date. You can always book your room now, and if a code comes out later, call and have it applied to your ressie. The codes are for room only ressies, not for packages.
