Can someone please explain what codes are, where you get them and how are they used? My husband and I have booked a trip to WDW for September through a travel agent and are getting the Dream Maker Package with Silver Add-on; am I able to get a discount on that, or are codes used only when you book things separately?

You might have been able to get the 5 plus 2 package. Basically, you pay for 5 nights and get 2 free. Check out MouseSavers. They usually have great information on current codes.

You might check with your travel agent to see if you got the 5 plus 2 deal and if you didn't, they might be able to get it for you.

I booked the 5 plus 2 through Dreams Unlimited and saved a lot of $ on a regualr season, garden view room at the Boardwalk and tickets.

Disney release codes from time to time to help discount prices. I think these are generally for resort lodging and not packages. I got a discount code for having an Annual Pass. This allowed me to save $85 a night off the rate for the Wilderness Lodge. This more than paid for the annual pass for me. They also currently have codes for florida residents and possible a few others. Many of these discussions will list the codes. This website has a list of the current codes.

Usually there are a limited number of rooms at these code prices, so one needs to watch for them. I first booked my ressie at CBR an an AAA rate. When the codes came out, I was able to move to a deluxe resort for less than my AAA discount at the moderate. Aren't codes great? (if you can get one) Good Luck.

Even the package you got has a code, it just may not be the best one.

Codes are what give you a discount. They do have packages that have codes, like the one that is currently going on (which I believe is good for stays 7/5 through 11/18). Then there are AP rates that have a code and also room only codes for everyone and Florida residents. Sometimes there are also codes for residents of other states. To find out about current codes, you can check on this board or at mousesavers.com. The current package is the 7/5, it is a dreammaker package and you pay for 5 nights and get 7nights, plus 8 days of UPH's. Have you called disney to find out if you could get this package? You can also price it out on the WDW website, just make sure you click on the free offer ad first, if you don't it will give you rack rates. The ad, the last I looked, had Pluto on it and it was in a little box on the right side of the screen.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Hulabird, I was never able to get the WDW site to give me the discount, I had to call them. Thanks for the clue about clicking on the free offer first.
