Code Share Question...

Probably a dumb question...but

A friend is joining us for part of our vacation next month. He purchased tickets on Delta Flights, but his return is a Code Share, and actually a Northwest Flight, even though the ticket has a Delta flight number 6856, it is also Northwest #953. So I assume he'd check-in at the Northwest desk for the return flight...we've never had a code share before, except on ASA Delta Express, and that checks in through Delta.

My experience is that you check in with airline actually doing the flight. In this case NorthWest.

Yes, you definitely check in with the airline operating the flight, not the airline with the flight number.
