this has come about because there's a book out called The Coconut Diet which claims that coconut oil can help stimulate metabolism in the same way that the Hampton's Diet uses macademia oil. There's a lot of debate about it and while it's true that cutting all fats out of a diet is bad, whether coconut oil is the one to add back in is debateable (sp?). It is incredibly high in saturated fat but there's other evidence to say that coconut oil boosts immunity and has other health promoting benefits.
