When we get off the ship, we are going to spend a night at Cocao Beach. We would like to be right on the ocean and it sounds like a lot of the hotels are across a street. Does anyone have a recomendation for a hotel right on the ocean?

Just remember that the hotels right on the beach are pretty pricey.

We stayed at the Marriott and the Hampton the last 2 years. They are right next to each other. They can not list as being on the beach, but as far as I am concerned they are.

You are on the water side and have to take a path down to the beach which is a nice walk just a few min. This is a close as you can get without simpley walking out the backdoor of the hotel into the water.

I would suggest the Hampton of these 2. They have a nice continental breakfast (bagels, danish, cereal, fruit etc.) included. They do not have a shuttle included, but since the shuttle that can be arranged doesn't pick up until 12 we arranged for a taxi.

These 2 are about 3 miles from the port. Within in walking distance to stores, Ron Jon's, subway, dairy queen, burger king, Ihop and a grocery store.

The taxi picked us up just after 10:30. It was about $20 including tip for the three of us.

Another motel that I just checked out Saturday was The Inn of Cocoa Beach which is right on the beach - it is located right in back of Ron Jon's and close to everything - I was stunned with the beauty of seeing the ocean as the back yard - don't know their prices, but I am sure Dave has it on his site - very tropical looking - then there is also the Wakulla which is on A1A - these motels received quite a bit of damage from the 3 hurricanes, but they sure cleaning up nice.
If I can help further, just drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com

When my family used to go to Cocoa Beach every year before our trip to WDW, we would stay at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront Cocoa Beach. It is AWESOME! And they have done a lot of remodeling since the last time I was there. The link above takes you to the site and there's a photo tour.

I think you can check rates there too. We used to stay at a discounted rate because my SIL works for Holiday Inn but it was defiintly worth the money. I loved falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean! Okay, I want to go back NOW!
