Race tickets - got
airline tickets - got
hotel - ?????

Looking for something on the beach July 4 to July 9th. I'm searching all over the web for something that doesn't break the bank.

We stayed at the Best Western, which was up in that area, as we wanted to see the shuttle launch (which was cancelled), but had a great view, corner room with balcony. We had a breakfast and it was okay, nothing to write home about, but reasonable.

Recently doing some research, I had booked a day at the LaQuinta Inn & Suites Cocoa Beach, which is also up in that area. I had an ocean front king room booked with balcony. We cancelled as had a change in plans, but probably will stay there if we go again. Had pretty good reviews on Trip Advisor (nice all wood floors, no musty smelling carpet).

How much can you hear the guests in the next room. The last couple rooms we stayed in, we were kept up all night by the kids running up and down the halls and screaming in the next room.

Cocoa Beach/Canaveral is gonna be mobbed during those times. If you don't mind driving a bit further south there's a bunch of nice hotels from Satellite Beach south to Indialantic Beach to Melbourne.

At the Best Western, we had a corner room, didn't experience any noise. It was a busy time as everything was booked due to the shuttle launch (which didn't happen). The room was just a little musty as a lot of older beach hotel rooms are. Not to the degree that it was a major issue, and I'm very fussy!

I don't know about the LaQuinta as never personally stayed there, but as said I had it reserved by changed plans. I will definitely try it the next time.

I would go to Trip Advisor and just go through the reviews and then check out prices individually. I always call for prices after I see the on-line prices. Usually with the AAA discount, I get it for same or cheaper.

Good luck in your hunting.

We liked the Four Points by Sheraton. It is on the main road and a block or 2 off the beach. We walked to the beach in 3-5 minutes if even. It's about $100 a night. It has a RonJo's in the lobby and a big fishtank. It was neat and clean and has a parking garage as well. I would stay there again without a doubt. Did not eat there - there are also a ton of places within walking distance.
Looking from the beach toward the hotel (blue/green building on left).

Sorry it's blurry - our room had sofa area and window looked out over lobby and fishtank.

There is a website very similar in style to this one called cruisecritic.com extremely helpful for cruise planning but also has info on ports of call w/port canaveral being one. If you register you can search the forums for info (its free). Sorry I'm technically challenged and cannot post a link but google cruise critic then:
boards
register
ports of call
united states
florida departures-search this forum for cocoa beach info

We were going to spend a day there last year pre-cruise so I did a little research but ended up changing plans so I don't have any experience just did the searching.
Hope this helps!
