Cocoa Beach - 1night

We had a great stay at the Doubletree. Easy beach access and you also get a discount to Ron Jon's for shopping.

Could you walk to Ron Jon's? Also, were there lifeguards on the beach?

Did I miss something? We took a drive to Coco Beach and it was so run down and abandonded. We drove all around looking for SOMETHING...ANYTHING and there was nothing. PLUS we ended up driving through MIMS....I thought I was in the Dukes of Hazard and there were so many Confederate Flags flying I was praying they did not see I was a Yankee!

Ron Jon's was a few blocks away. There weren't lifeguards around the Doubletree area. We never made it to the pier so I don't know if any were in that area.

They would have just offered you an RC and a Moon Pie. Or a Bud.

You just have to give folks a chance. You'll be amazed what you learn.

Why Cocoa Beach for one night? Are you en route somewhere?

Bella may be wrong about the good people of Mims, but her description of Cocoa Beach above is not far off -- there is really not a whole lot to see or do there. Just a nice beach. (Except Ron Jon's, where we spent 3 hours shopping on Tuesday!)

There are other places on the Atlantic coast that are much better overnight stops.

We arrive Saturday and head to Portofino Bay Hotel on Sunday. My kids LOVE waves, I promised a visit to the beach, so figured we would go from the airport (our plane arrives at 3:45) to Cocoa Beach, stay the night, hit the beach in the morning, check out Ron Jon's and head to Portofino.

Plan on spending some time at Ron Jon's! Everybody will want something, and the choices are endless.

The night before our Disney cruise, we stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton. It was connected to Ron Jon's. Decent room!
