Cockroaches at Pop Century Resort

Twice a year - May and September, for the most part. Sometimes they are early and show up in April. They are annoying, but harmless.
That's great lol...we're going in September :flower1:

Sometimes you don't even really notice them. One year it was horrible here ... and then others, you barely notice them.
I just remember they fly towards you and once they get super close, they fly away.

Not sure how I happened to stumble across this year old thread, but boy oh boy it was sure entertaining. I can gladly say I never have SEEN (doesn't mean they weren't there) a cockroach/palmetto bug nor any rats. I do recall a bunch of little froggies and lizards! Soooo adorable. One time a little frog came right up on my sisters leg and hung out there for a few, just looking up at us. Lol, it was precious.

I had no idea that "palmetto" bugs were tropical. Just goes to show that not everyone from around the world/country is familiar with different climates. I can't do bugs. ESPECIALLY spiders. YUCK! Ignorance is bliss, though. So long as I don't SEE it, I have nothing to be all riled up about. However, after reading this thread, I must admit I am a little paranoid now :rotfl2:It's okay. If we see anything, I'll just freak out and have my little sister take care of it! Hahaha

We've stayed at Pop many times and only saw a cockroach once in our room. Sprayed it with deodorant (lol!) and put a garbage can upside-down on top of it. Left a note for mousekeeping and it was gone when we returned.

We happened to be staying on the ground floor that trip so have chosen higher floors since then. Not sure if it makes any difference at all but since that's my dd's request (and the roach was originally in her shoe) I happily oblige! :)

They have wings and fly. Ground floor won't be the only place you find them.

Love bugs are DISGUSTING! :crazy2: I went in Sept once and wow, they were EVERYWHERE. I was at Pop and had such a hard time in my room as they'd make their way in from under the door. I remember, each night i'd squish about 10 love bugs. EACH NIGHT. Walking around the resort was fun....we were dodging them constantly. They were mostly around the room areas, hallways, etc. It was disgusting. I'll never go in sept (or Apr/May) again.

FWIW, I never saw them at the resorts though....so that was a relief.

@madmeg I hope its not too bad for you in Sept. Perhaps in our case it was just a one time thing. Not sure if its usually that bad.

About cockroaches (the original discussion)....I have to say, i've stayed at values more than any other resort level and i have not seen a roach once. Not saying theyre not around, but ive never seen them. Love bugs, bed bugs, yes. But not roaches.
